"That's just how it was back then."
Added 2018-10-21 16:01:00 +0000 UTC“That’s how it was back then.” If you’ve done a lot of debating about the bible, then you’ve heard statements like that a million times. God seemed archaic, they say, because He had to take their ancient culture into consideration so that they could understand Him. That’s the argument. This is a standard go-to from even the most advanced theologians, and I don’t think I’ve ever actually addressed it in a video.
Recently I heard Ben Shapiro make this argument; so I decided to jump on it, because he gets a lot of respect as a debater. Who better to stand as an exemplar for it in my animation? The position will essentially be steel-manned. If I break it down successfully, then it will be a valuable video to put out there. The script is finished, and I think it does attack the argument well.
The animation will use the serious versions of God and Jeffery in their human forms, along with an animated Shapiro, using audio from one of his speeches. To keep the audio consistent, he will be giving a speech in the animation as well.
I originally wrote it to be comical, but decided it worked much better as a serious video. Unfortunately that will take a lot longer, since I’ll have actual humans with mouths to animate rather than squiggly lines and simple bodies. So, it looks like this one will come out in November. I’m working on it now.
