I’m always experimenting. I want to know how to make something better and/or more efficient. The screenshot above is the result of such experimentation. For my past animations, I used dedicated animation software to build scenes, place virtual cameras, and then let hours of rendering take place in the background. In the scene above, however, I used a video game engine. I purchased an engine that allows commercial use. I built the scene using a terrain heightmap, raising and lowering as I saw fit, and then painted the terrain with various textures. Then, I shaped and positioned various elements, like rocks, grass, and trees. This way, I can literally walk around in the scene and take screenshots like a tourist taking pictures. No rendering time. Also, maybe in the future I can release a scene so that anyone can virtually walk around inside a DarkMatter2525 cartoon.
