I grew up near Grand Forks love your vibe and signed up right away. a touch of patience may prove profitable for you, with that said the rules are much more relaxed on Vimeo. I follow several channels there too.

Not wanting to add more options to your thought processes, but I would note that a few channels also use Vimeo to post extended or additional content not always allowed on YouTube using a subscription model or paying for individual videos. I note the Lazy Geckos seem to use these successfully. I would also concur that the monthly model is a good one, but do offer an option or options for those who are able to support you at a high level . Do also consider “guest” appearances on other sailing channels if you get the chance these always seem to to down well with supporters and exposes you to channels with lots of subscribers, some of whom may also choose to follow you. Just a thought.

Laura you are a very fun person to follow around. You are spontaneous, never shy, and you make us want to see more of you and your life. My life, like most of us, is a busy one and the ten to fifteen minutes of free time I have during the day I use to see what my favorite YouTube and Patreon peeps are doing. Patreon and Snapchat are where you can show your paying followers content you can't show on YouTube, but are comfortable sharing with your followers.

I like the monthly. And in my opinion just make videos your way don't worry about being professional. I dig your personality, zest for life and smile. Thats why I kept following. And if were being honest. Doodles is a great channel. I started following Bobby from the beginning because he was doing what I want to do everyday. Melissa was awesome and having a female friend on the boat comes with that dream. I would sail away now but my wife isnt on board and without her it isn't complete. Then you came along and added a ton of energy and positivity to everything. And the be honest part is you are absolutely stunning. You are naturally beautiful and the personality you share with us all is even more attractive. So I say that because Bobby obviously put you on the front of every video. Any guy seeing you as a still shot for a video stopped and said whoa who's that. We know you like the sun and bikinis. Its may seem weird or cheap or whatever anyone may think. But once they watch you and see you and your personality and smile thats what they'll stay for. And not to mention you a female boat captain. You on a boat will also bring more. I guess to say it simply flaunt those bikini shots hashtag the hell out of hot girl, bikini, and any other thing all us dumb guys look up. You'll get to 50k soon and they'll stay for the girl we've all come to enjoy. And mostly dont stress on editing just make what you want. Youll get better as you go naturally. That's how Bobby was you could see the progress in every video just as we see yours. Good luck 👍

I would like to focus more on the fun video & adventure part... but then I worry I’m it thinking of this as a business & maybe I should be doing things different. i totale agree with you Laurence! Doodles subscriber number are going down also. it's no fun to read to read those comments. he should be fair, on FB he posted foto with new girl and " meet us". I think your right that Laura's numbers ll increase! we only can do what we do to back her up.

I like the option of monthly donations that you presently have. For as little as 5 bucks a month one can support you. Of course, I like the $100/mo option 😉 as well as all in between. You may want to add a $10 option as well. Lot's of choices potential patreons can choose from.

Laura, from reading all the comments in the Sailing Doodles videos I'm convinced that most of the 169k subscribers have no clue. I believe when and If Bobby makes it known that you are no longer with him, associated with him or part of Sailing Doodles, you will see an increase in your number of subscribers. Hopefully an increase in Patreons once people know where to find you.

Laura I agree with all comments till now, couldn't say much more. you know I was patreon from doodles but needed to make a choice and I did !!! and I did make the right choice !! I'm one of those peeps that put links to your channels and info. And for example last video of B I did read lot's of comments and not all where always nice for him, they tell him they know your in Guam etc and he should stop posting with you as clickbait. It's not my business, I only give links when I see if people ask where you are etc. You're doing fine and even more then fine, sure (libra my self) you want to get your target and goals quicker don! I think if you have more exclusive patreon rewards/perks and advertise your page as such than you will see an influx of traffic to your patreon. Your channel is already a good look at your life, but people are intrigued to always see more. I know with other sailing/travel channels, their exclusive, in depth, and sometimes uncensored content is what drives their followers to commit more (views & $) to the creators both on youtube and premium platforms like patreon.

Your present format is good for those wanting to help support your present goals. I think your wanting to see growth but I don’t think changing the type of pay system will actually grow your brand. I looked at your views on YouTube and Instagram and noticed a trend. Your audience responds to you on the screen more than the stories behind you. If you don’t use Snapchat, I think you need to get small snaps up on the front page. By knowing your audience, I think you will grow your following and also grow your supporters. So I agree with Kevin and Bruce and let time build your dreams. Your live streams are really drawing views as well as pictures of you draw the most views in Instagram . You are your brand, therefore devote more time on you and your life rather than trying to create stories you think the audience wants to see. From one captain to another, good luck on your voyage.

It keeps sending before i finish...people on doodles most have no idea you left.give them another month.you will get a fresh surge once the story comes out you have a channel. People are posting youre channel. Relax get good at editing let life fall into place. Youre way too over thinking it. Time takes time.live life. No one gets a free ride. Work hard and guaranteed you will be in a dream boat before youre 40th. Wish i could crystal ball the time line but its not far away.

That said, sailing channels are unique but they all take years and years to grow. If i were you i would leave it at monthly. I would focus on creating the best content you can and dont expect to hit 50,000 even by next year.

Laura i think youre thinking too much. Most creators take years to get 10,000 subs. It just cant explode overnignt unless you do something so crazy unique. And sailing channels areca dime a dozen.

Some do it by creation/step/video but supporters have the option to set monthly maximums as to keep to their budget. This allows support to continue without have to leave you! Tiers of $1 are good so to stay a supporter, which I have done lately, when finances get tight! I can still support with low or no benefits and can jump up in tiers when I'm more flush with cash! Also I'm from north of Winnipeg if you ever happened to get up to Manitoba in your formative years! 😋
