(4K) The Mane Attraction WIP 8 Set - Clouds, Cloth Decor, Denoise Testing
Added 2017-05-25 21:48:06 +0000 UTCSome clouds have been added into the background. They are part of the sky texture, not part of the 3D environment. Hopefully they look okay to you all. Along with the clouds I've also been messing around with the cloth simulator in Blender and was able to create some of the cloth decor that are hung around the sides of the stage platform. I'll be working on the stage curtain soon.
This image was also rendered in a beta version of Blender that has an upcoming feature called "denoise". It's not a perfect tool, but it helps significantly reduce noise without having to increase the samples to an absurd amount (which in turn causes render-times to grow exponentially) or do any sort of clamping or whatever. With the denoiser, I can render at a more reasonable sample count now, and knowing that I don't really have to spend all that extra time rendering more samples than I would like, I bumped up the resolution of these test renders quite a bit. I probably wouldn't dare render a full animation at this resolution because this still took a long time to render thanks to the volumetric spotlight.
