The only time that I remember that ep.1 is referenced later in the show is literally 2-3 seconds - and it's not even a necessary flashback. I would actually go so far as to say that ep.1 is a semi-spoiler in some ways. Characters are introduced out of nowhere, getting almost no screen-time. It is so obviously tacked-on that I just don't understand why it's there at all. The people who watch Brotherhood are already fans, or want to try something new. Does ep.1 exist just to entice people to watch it? If so it's the absolute worst way of doing so imo. I get triggered just thinking about the piece-of-shit, 100% garbage episode. There is no reason why it should exist, it is an abomination. The day it was released was one of the worst for Mankind. It should burn and go to hell, and take the writers of the naruto- and Bleach-fillers with it. THE SALT IS REAL.

No, if they watch FMAB they should watch everything even filler/recap episodes, just like they did with Avatar and “The Great Divide” for example. Also, although episode one of FMAB is technically filler (manga-wise) they reference to it a few times in the Anime, enough to make it “canon” at least for the anime.

I would have loved to suggest Gintama and One Piece, but I can sympathise with the long-running shows and how hard it is to react to them. In that hindsight, I'll just vote for Naruto, even though I don't like it. Maybe if that goes well, we can move on to longer and more established shows :)

Our intention wasn't to pit votes against Death Note but as others have pointed out, most of us who would have been available to watch the show have already seen it. So either we have them join and not say anything , wait until people are free to watch or only have few reactors. However, if Death Note still won after this then obviously we would have watched it, it just would have been either delayed to get fresh eyes or have very small group. FMA:B will take you through a similar journey as avatar, just a little darker! Thats why I always recommend this amazing Anime(FMA:B). Death note is top 3 anime of all time for me with FMA:B being number one so I can't even be mad if it's picked, it's so good. After watching your finale reaction for Avatar and seeing you all tear up,I can't wait for you all to tear up again in FMA:B!

I strongly recommend watching Death Note and Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood in the dub. There are some shows (Attack on TItan) where the dub is vastly inferior to the sub, but those two shows have top notch acting and I think it would help you not miss some important details.

You guys need to check out Case Closed or Detective Conan, which is the sub version of case closed. At least watch the first episode on your own time and I think you'll enjoy it. If you're into mysteries than you'll love this anime.

Personally I think Death Note is great in concept but it's not worth watching a second time, the monologues are DREADFUL, the pacing is awful, and the dialogue is freaking corny, everything else about it is amazing though.

IMO, Naruto is not worth watching, and Tokyo Ghoul is mediocre at best. FMA:B and Death note are the top obvious choices and top contenders, but both are quite long, so it would take over 9 months to finish Death note at one episode per week, and just under one and a half years till you're caught up on FMA:B. Just things for people to consider compared to watching a shorter anime like Cowboy Bebop or My Hero, both of which would only take about 6-7 months. Also, I assume The Legend of Korra is not included here because they are already planning on watching it after they finish posting Avatar.
