I think you have it wrong. They sent him off, becouse he was now useless to them and they told him to say "I am son of Ragnar" . Well everyone in england would kill him, cos they fear and hate Vikings. But that is just my opinion. Never thought about different meaning. Sry for my english. Cya

And the thing with Magnus being kicked out was because now that it’s known that he isn’t Ragnars son he is in danger of being killed by the people because he is Quentriths son and they all hate her, so Aethelwulf had decided to make him leave and if he told people he was the son of Ragnar and was Magnus who was raised in Wessex they would take care of him.
