It doesn't really advance the story or the characters in any meaningful way. It's a fun episode but when compared to the series as a whole it is by far the worst episode of ATLA.

Guys I enjoyed the Great Divide. I dont get all the fuss about it being a filler - Nahid

The Normies

Yes! It will keep getting better. I do admit The Great Divide isn't the greatest, I think people are telling you to not watch it as they're probably worried that it might put you off, but I think it might be better if you go into it with low expectations/ think of it as filler.

Of course you shouldn't skip any episodes. You haven't seen the series yet! Despite what some people say, ATLA has no filler. Every ep contributes at least something to either the overall plot or character development. Plus, there are only 61 eps. Just watch em. :]

fork

Yeah I would say don't skip any episode, it isn't a long show so every episode plays a part in the larger story! And each and every one of them are great episodes and while it may not advance the overall plot it flows very well.

Lira

The comedy gets way better after season 1.

I wouldn't say there is no filler. Rather, that even the filler is worth watching. I particularly dislike the "The Painted Lady" episode as being filler. But it does introduce an eccentric character, and a theme barely touched on elsewhere in the series. So I would agree, even the weaker episodes contribute to a spectacular whole show.

Suraj edited this one. As soon as we hit our 4th goal, we will have him as full time Normie

The Normies

I agree with Navi. I don't think any part of the series is particularly weak. Any good, well thought out story has a beginning, middle, and end. Aside from the excellent animation, action/choreography, lore, etc...what makes this show great is the character development. The beginning may be slower than some people like, but it's all necessary to tell a much larger story. In my opinion, there is no filler. You're always learning something, even if it's a very small detail. I'm really enjoying hearing your insight, guys. Enjoy the ride. :)
