You guys should watch the OVA episodes for attack on titan, it explains Levi's origins and the underground city as well as other episodes that help out misunderstandings.

It's been 2 days since the capturing of Annie, not a few months. Keep in mind that the Beast Titan started shit while the fight with Annie was going on - on the night of that day Reiner, Bert, Connie, Christa and Ymir were fighting titans at Castle Utgarde. In the morning of the following day we see the Scouts save them, that's the same day as the Reiner/Berthold reveal, fight and kidnapping of Eren and then the Scouts were already caught up to them before nightfall. Also if you guys want to check out the Underground Cities watch the No Regrets 2 part OVA (OVAs are like extra episodes in Anime) that shows Levi joining the scouts, he's from an Underground City.

Definitely watch OPM and then FMA:B! The are fantastic shows. In the case that you finish those shows before the next season of AoT premieres, or if you have another slot for another anime, I would highly recommend you watch an older classic such as Cowboy Bebop or Trigun👍🏽👍🏽

They should watch that and Attack on Titan Ilse's Notebook. It is just one episode, but it gives some important information (this aired way before season 2).

Yeah, they should definitely react to those episodes (i'm surprised they didn't know about them since they came out a little after season 1 finished). It gives a lot more insight into Levi's character. Another OVA (Bonus Episode) to watch is Attack on Titan: Ilse's Journal.

There are Bonus Episodes (or OVAs) that came out after season 1 aired that covers the underground city and tells Levi's backstory. They are called Attack on Titan No Regrets Part 1 and Part 2. There is also another important OVA that tells the story of the first known titan to speak called Attack on Titan Ilse's Journal. You may want to consider reacting to those few since season 2 just ended.

It's not that the animators from this one studio are underpaid and overworked, it's that all animators are underpaid and overworked. Anime is a very niche media. An anime that breaks even on production costs is considered a success. These days not a lot of people want to be animators because of that, so the industry is just shrinking.

One Punch Man is really not worth your time, so overhyped. FMA:B maybe starts off a little slow but completely blows away AoT in story, characters and scale once it gets going.

Note: I tried posting this comment before, but for some reason I can't see it. Sorry if this is a double......Ben, it definitely has not been a month (in the show) since the fight with Annie. Literally right after the fight with Annie, a part of the wall was broken from Annie attempting to climb it with her hardened claws. It revealed that there were titans in the walls. After that scene, the show goes ~2 hours back in time and shows Sasha, Connie and the rest of the gang at the time the Titans were spotted in the walls (this was during mid-day). They then went to try to find the breach in the wall. The two different groups that went went to search the walls ended up running into each other at night (the same day). That is when they decided to find shelter to rest up because they and the horses were tired. They go to rest at Utgard Castle and a few hours later (still night), titans show up. Ymir goes titan form as the sun is beginning to come up, so it has been ~12 hours so far since the encounter with Annie. Mikasa and the crew save Ymir and the others around this time. They then go onto the walls to discuss what happened with Ymir and talk about the hole in the wall and discover there isn't one. Reiner and Bertholdt turn into Titans and the fight begins. The fight ends during the same day with Reiner and Bertholdt taking Eren and Ymir. The same day, Eren wakes up a few hours until sunset. So now it has been a little over 24 hours since the encounter with Annie. The scouts catch up to them and the chase begins. Once they retrieve Eren and escape, it is night time. So this entire season has only taken place somewhere around 36 hours.

Erens voice actor blew me away this episode. The scene where he breaks down was incredible. The reason they treated the underground city so nonchalantly is that it is featured in the OVAs, it is where Levi is from.

I would think FMA:B is more their type of show. They will love the dark themes and story but they will be able to appreciate the humor when it arises.

I think One Punch Man should be next. It's overall a bit lighter in tone, it's a short, quick watch, and it's an awesome show overall. THEN you can go back into the darkness of a more intense longer series, like FMA: Brotherhood or something else. I'm also gonna throw Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann in the mix of options for its super hype moments!
