Even with old man netero, the show shows that Netero is stronger but doesn't explain WHY he's stronger, which is why after Killua kills the guys that bump into him in the hallway we're left with the impression that Killua is top tier.

That’s because unlike other series Hunter x Hunter really REALLY takes a lot of time before explaining the power system. When you finish the next two and a half arcs, you will be able to better assess new characters strength.

Sure it makes gathering money easier and gives tons of perks, but just having the card does esentially nothing
