[Early Access] Community - 2x10 Mixology Certification - Group Reaction

Interesting episode that dives into the psyche of certain characters.  I also think there was a heavy emphasis on age vs. maturity.  For example, We see Troy make a concious decision to not drink even on his 21st birthday.  In contrast, we see Pierce struggle to fight his inflated ego in order to ask for help.  Just because you are older than someone, does that mean you have a greater level of maturity?  Should you be respected and trusted as a higher authority just because you are older or is that something that should be earned?  What are your thoughts on this episode? (Remember, no spoilers!)

Is the volume only low for me? This and gravity falls had super low volume. I literally had to turn up all my volume knobs, pc and amp.

Navi's reaction to Shirley's picture on the wall was priceless lol

Oh, and I totally get where Naavi is coming from and agree.

I felt pretty bad for Troy this episode. Not because he didn't get a great birthday and had to play the grown up for the night - though there is that as well - but because he's slowly realizing that as he gets older, the answers he seeks in life are likely to still alude him just as it has his friends. The knowledge that things may not get any easier. It's a sobering thought, pun unintended.

I believe experiences rather than age determines a person's level of maturity. But I am a bit old school, and believe you should give people older than yourself a certain level of respect as a higher authority. This doesn't mean you have to take their word as gospel, but rather take on board the advice you believe is relevant.

Suraj is going to flip when he sees a certain guest star in an episode this season!

Just FYI, nobody from Corpus Christi sounds like that lol

While Navi had a point about letting someone know you're not interested and not leading them on if you know nothing will happen, the guy's reaction was still over the top and not proportionate. If he just walked away and/or made some snarky comment - yeah, fair enough, but he threw a drink in Abed's face. Also, he is not 'self absorbed', he is clearly on the spectrum. He admitted he doesn't understand human emotion, and even in this episode he imitates laughing only because everyone else in the car is.

This is one of my favorite episode (not THE favorite tho) as it spoke to me during a time (when it aired) where I was still trying to find myself as a young adult.

Annie said they were born in 1990 when she thought Troy was the same age as her, and this episode aired on Dec. 2nd, 2010, which means she turned 20 later that month.

Incase anybody in the group didn't get the birthday cake thing, Troy is a Jehovah's Witness and they can't celebrate birthdays. So they labeled it as a "random dessert" which just happens to coincide with the date of his birth or "expulsion." A nice loophole that the group thought up. Also Donald Glover is a Jehovah's Witness in real life or was at one time.

I think Troy didn't drink because he was raised in a cult

I agree with Navi, that guy was clearly hitting on him and Abed knew it. Abed is adorable, but he is very self-absorbed.
