[Early Access] Vikings - 5x10 Moments of Vision - Group Reaction
Added 2018-05-17 00:53:20 +0000 UTCSo sorry for the delay on this one!!!! We got together to record it kind of late in the week. But regardless, this episode was so lit it was really tough to edit as well. I did my best to fit all the good bits in!
What an awesome finale! That was a new and creative way to show a large scale battle sequence in a non linear way. So many deaths!! We said goodbye to Hafdan, Astrid, Snaefrid and Guthrum.
Hafdan - I really liked the arc of his character. I wanted to hate him (along with fine hair) because we have witnessed them do some really horrific, despicable shit. But talking of the vikings a whole, they all did fucked up things. Ragnar and Floki probably did really fucked up things in real life that weren't portrayed in the show. That being said, Hafdan was a new favorite of mine and the lack of his presence will certainly be felt.
Guthrum - I was expecting him to make it through another time jump possibly. When Bjorn handed him a knife he brought from the Mediterranean and said "You might see it yourself some day." I thought that may have been foreshadowing for his future, and so his death was definitely a surprise. I was honestly expecting Torvi to die, she's been through a lot. But she is an aging warrior like lagertha, and her days have to be nearing a close. But alas, she's a survivor and she'll have to carry this pain with her along with all the other things that have happened to her. She's tough and another favorite character of mine.
Snaefrid - Her death wasn't surprising to me for some reason. Even though she got married to Bjorn, I just didn't expect her to stay around for long. For the the her and Sami were here, though, was awesome! It was fun to explore another civilization and see their battle tactics. Far different from anything we've seen in the show and their ferocity on the battlefield was awesome to watch.
Astrid - Really?! Really?! I think this was the most painful one for me because she was loyal to the end despite what side she was on. And the horrors she had to go through to get that message to Kattegat was unbearable to watch. And now to think that those men may have gotten away with it. I really really hope now. Even though Astrid is gone, I really hope Finehair still finds out the truth and brings hell down upon that crew.
This was so lit you guys and we can't wait to watch it live with ya'll when it comes back in august!

2018-05-17 19:20:01 +0000 UTCGreat reaction guys. I'm glad you all enjoyed the finale. I, personally, didn't really like it. It was underwhelming for me considering the build-up to it. This whole Season 5A has been a mixed bag for me. Started out strong and no doubt it has some great moments, but with the pacing, characters and the story being a hit and a miss, the overall experience was kinda bumpy. Also, cannot deny the fact that losing your top two characters/actors (Ragnar and Eckbert) in the previous season will obviously have an effect on the enjoyment, especially if a replacement of equal level is not present. Still, love the series and looking forward to 5B, which I hope does a better job.

The actor who plays Ivar also said that his was his favorite episode ever, of Vikings. I also need to mention the love Halfdan had for Bjørn. "You taught me... something". I am convinced that Halfdan was in love with Bjørn, and the whole "Bjørn saved my life" things both includes Bjørn taking him on a journey he would never have experienced otherwise, AND that Halfdan came to terms with his sexuality. I may be overanalyzing. But I dont think so. I can not wait to watch this reaction!

I am glad that you guys can see where that comes from though. I don't hate Lagertha but i can't help but imagine what the season could have been like if her storyline was left out this season and we kept following Bjorn and the Great Heathen Army. Can't wait to have you guys react to Peaky Blinders (my favorite Netflix show). Speaking of which, if you guys crave some more Vikings style shows, you can watch The Last Kingdom on Netflix after you guys finish Peaky Blinders It picks up around when the Great Heathen Army has ravaged Britain. The show is far more historically accurate and takes the perspective of the Anglo-Saxons this time.
