[Early Access] Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood - Episode 29 Struggle of the Fool - Reaction!!

Hello everyone! So we accidentally watched 1 episode of this show in the sub! We switched it back immediately after this episode hope you all don't mind it this week! Enjoy and thanks for the support!

[Early Access] Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood - Episode 29 Struggle of the Fool - Reaction!!

Comments

please watch in dub it is much better for reactions

Luke

This sucks. Stick with the dub you guys :(

Sal Inger

Struggle of the Fool is a callback to Mustang in Advance of the Fool episode 21. The more I watch the more I think the story is well-rounded between each character especially between Ed and Mustang.

Lavota Carter

I like how the story touches on the reality of military from both sides. How the Elrics view it as basically hired contractors, the general population (Winry, Pinako, etc) , The oppressed Ishvalans, and the active military (Armstrong, Hawkeye, Mustang, etc). Realistically showing how things effect each subgroup. and the variation of response.

Lavota Carter

I think this show works as more of a sub for me because of the characters' looks. I love Hawkeye's, Mustang, Bradley, and L.Armstrong's voices as they super fit their physical descriptions. The VA in Japanese sound off to me. Hawkeye sounds like a small supermodel,Mustang sounds like his chest should be wider, and Bradley in Japanese doesn't sound calm and smooth, just terrifying 24/7

Lavota Carter

AoT is great and so is OP Man. The only iffy thing is Genos' voice. People always think the sub is flawless because they don't speak japanese, but not all japanese actors are perfect. Furthermore, subtitles are rarely accurate.

HybridThizzle

Dislike the Sub. or any Sub for that matter.

RuggedNorthman

Thankfully hey're not watching OP Man or AoT dubbed. AoT is especially bad.

olof

I actually prefer the sub over the dub but this episode was extremely jarring. From the weird ass subtitles to the sudden change of language in the middle of the show. Definitely don't blame you for not liking it at this point. It's hard to switch languages halfway through a show. I did that with Naruto years ago and it took a while for it to sound normal.

Nick

They were planning on watching at least one in sub at some point anyway

goose

Just watching this also reminded me. RIP Kenji Utsumi, Armstrong's Japanese voice actor. Actors are truly beloved. See you guys on the next one.

Mike Strider

I hate dub but for us i feel like you have to show the video for us to understand whats going on or else all we'll hear is Japanese. So maybe stick to dub for a better viewing experience both sides(since you guys seemed to prefer dub).

Abg

Sub > Dub all day every day.

Patrick Balot

i dont know why they didnt just change it back to english right away lol

Bad Egg

I recommend a rewatch of this same episode in English too then you know.

Eliot Blane

No guys do English its fine really.

Eliot Blane

I whole-heartedly prefer the English voices for this show as well. I don't care what anybody else says, there's nothing special about the original Japanese voices; it just sounds like any other anime. But the dub for FMA:B is one of those rare gems, which makes it unique.

CK12341

I didn't mind this. The only thing that would've made this ep better in english was Ling taking over greed for those couple seconds.

turtlecowz

Nah just ed and al. Also they are kids.

Kevin Echeverria

Oh I don’t mind I actually prefer the sub of this show more. Dub is good tho

Kevin Echeverria

Navi: I want to see her! Me: I want you to see her too! Never underestimate Ling! It's Doctor Knox! I agree with that Suraj! What's so great about FMAB is that everyone is literally given a focus in some way. It's easy to regard side characters as just that, but FMAB doesn't do that and I love it. Fun fact: Romi Park, the Japanese VA for Edward here, also voiced Hange Zoe from Attack on Titan.

Lalisa Truong

FMA:B dub is the only dub I prefer over sub, and I am super sub elitist but glad to see you guys curious about the sub :) cant wait for more

Dominic Caciappo

the dub is a lot better. there is more feeling and emotion in the performances. dub rules!

Norrin Radd

No argument here but please don’t switch lol there are audio cues you missed because of it. Biggest one being the soldier who brought them to wrath, you would’ve known it was envy by the voice. Same with the Ling/greed flip, it’s a more pronounced difference

Jcw490

I'm not sure if that IS what he said in the Japanese? There's a couple of points where they react to the subs in ways that suggest what they see is NOT what we're seeing, almost like they're watching the official sub but whoever edited this was using a fansub copy of the show.

If Suraj likes Chris Sabat's voice then they might wanna check out the dub of MHA whenever they get to it (since they said they plan to watch it as a huge group at some point). Sabat voices an important character in that show, and a lot of FMAB VAs voice characters in that show. One minor thing I noticed in this sub that's different is that Wrath is direct about killing Winry. While it's obvious he's threatening to kill Winry in the dub he doesn't specifically say "I'll cut her down" or "I'll straight up murder her." I think he said something along the lines of "it'd be a shame if something happened to her."

Kevin P

Are you watching this on Netflix?

olof

I honestly like the Dub version of Bradley much better, which is rare fore me :o

Justin Neason

There are a couple characters I prefer in the Japanese Dub but generally, I prefer the English Dub which is very very rare for me and most anime fans. I noticed the wording of the subtitles and sometimes entire sentences were drastically different which ruined some otherwise powerful moments. Once again, great reaction guys!

blackalchemist

Yes! I hope Micky joins the group at some point, I love his reactions specially when he starts laughing. xD

Ever Beltran

FMA:B might be the only anime in which I prefer the English Dub over the Sub. Usually I like the sub more or think they are pretty equal (MHA and Gurren Lagann), but this is the one exception.

Pavi

I don't think it's the biggest deal either but I prefer the honesty as well. No one believes you sat there and didn't notice it wasn't in English that whole time. Love you guys, please respect us and just be straight up :) thanks

"So we accidentally watched 1 episode of this show in the sub!" Oh common, just say it how it is, you watched one episode with the Japanese dub just to see what the voices sounded like. You can't watch an entire episode on accident. Just be honest to your fans. This is not the biggest deal because it's only one episode, but I really don't like that you watched a different dub after already so many episodes and being very connected with the (amazing) english dub voices for a reaction instead of just checking out the Japanese dub privately of episodes you've already watched. When you were talking about maybe watching sub for an episode I also commented to please not do that. But again, this is not the biggest deal and you will obviously watch the english dub for the rest of the show, but just say it like it is.
