[Premium Access] Agents of Shield - 1x18 Providence - Group Reaction

AoS 1x18 is here! We're pretty hooked on seeing a resolution to this Grant/Hydra story. Patton Oswalt is introduced into the story at a secret Shield base! The team is no longer Shield and they've been disbanded and labeled as a terrorist organization. Gotta say one of the most satisfying things watching this show is filling in all those answers on what the hell exactly happened to Shield after the whole Winter Soldier deal went down. This and the Season's conclusion thankfully provide lots of answers in that regard... Anyway, enjoy an early access shields and thanks so much for your support!

"Is Gravity Man a long play?" You have noooo idea!

Kris

These characters develop so much. It’s phenomenal writing. All the villains are top notch too.

Jenna Creighton

If they drop the show because people want to see them more engaged in the show and less nitpicky about everything, so be it. Then I drop my sponsorship. That's how it works. I just want to see them pay more attention and look deeper. Someone mentioned the show is not deep or words to that effect. It's because most of them are NOT fully engaged in the show. As someone who pays money to see these reactions I have a right to critique them as i see fit.

Nanci Fenstermaker

The discussion after the episode was pretty good though, sometimes I like that more than the reaction itself so keep it up.

Nudeldifudel

I just want everybody to be like Rana, go Rana.

Nudeldifudel

ya'll are gonna drive the normies to drop this show with your incessant whining that they're reacting Wrong and i'm gonna be so annoyed with you for it.

Linsey Morris

Well said, I feel the same.

Nudeldifudel

Well it is a problem when they don't think the show is smart enough to do something, when the show has done a bunch of smarter stuff already, but they haven't paid enough attention to notice.

Nudeldifudel

I dont know what everyone in the comments is complaining about. Its still only the 1st season.. The Normies dont know the characters as well as we do and dont get all the subtle references and foreshadowing, that we as fans of the show can look back on and appreciate when it all pays off. Your guys reactions are great keep it up Normies!!

JaySquad

I'm still feeling blessed that you guys react to shield. It's worth the $ for the early releases, because the reactions are so entertaining and I really look forward to them. Keep up the great work. You rock!!!!!!

justsomepancakes

Seeing where you guys are now and where this show goes to, some of your comments regarding the show, let's just say there will be many more things you don't expect or see coming and some characters' storylines take in very surprising and unexpected directions.

Artemis9991

Oh navy. Ask and you shall receive

Sou saetern

"Too deep for this show." Oh honey, this show gets dark and deep as hell.

I know they're evil and all, but the Ward/Garrett bromance is pretty OP

outdoorcats

the barbershop was a nice little reference to some of the silver age S.H.I.E.L.D stories where the base was hidden underneath a barbershop in the same way

Alex

I think the nitpicking is ruining their experience with this show...

Saifu

Rana: Yes, Patton Oswalt was a great recurring character on King of Queens. He's also a fantastic stand-up comic and an alpha nerd. He did a guest spot on Parks and Recreation as a local history geek who didn't want the town to repeal some of the old laws in the town charter, so he filibusters the town meeting to stop them. This is the full version of what he did (they cut it way back in the actual episode) and it wasn't written for him. He just went off about how to connect Star Wars with the MCU. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5BBhNkywMJY

Kelly Parks

Yep. And yeah, the suit would have survived that first crash but he'd have been jello inside it. Very dead.

Kelly Parks

That's a great line, dude! LOL!

Kelly Parks

I nearly did a spit take when he said that.

And there's a great reason (no spoilers) why she was disappointed that The Clairvoyant wasn't an actual clairvoyant.

Kelly Parks

Deathlok was the first example of one of the great things you're seeing on this show. You don't even realize that you are watching the origin stories of specific Marvel comics characters.

Kelly Parks

A little harsh but yeah.

Kelly Parks

Honestly you definitely don’t sound like a jerk. I think if you actually paid money as I have, it’s frustrating to watch them basically ignore the show. Tbh I’m just considering waiting for YouTube next month.

Nice reaction. One thing for commentators to remember, these reactions were recorded before they had the opportunity to get the feedback that has been given the last several episodes. I would echo others concerns. This is not a popcorn watchers show. You can't be in and out and lazy IF you want to fully appreciate what is going on. Seriously Normies, the comment about how you would be amazed if this show was that "smart " was disappointing because IT IS that smart. Seeds are planted, dialog is clever foreshadowing, subtleties ARE explained but it does reward paying close attention. Perhaps this is simply not your kind of show bu the "smart" comment suggests that it should be. Finally, all comic book and fiction shows require some level of "suspension of disbelief". For example, no way Tony Stark would have survived his very first crash in the Mark 1 armor. We simply have to accept some of the impossible physics and just enjoy the show. Like many others have said, I subscribed because you are reacting to this show and I have enjoyed your reactions. I hope that in the future you 1) continue to react and 2) are able to respond/adjust to some of the feedback you have received. Then again, perhaps your issues are the insight that we fans of the show need to understand why others don't seem to enjoy it as much as we do. Best regards.

Calculatus Eliminatus

Yeah Rana seems to be the only one giving this show a shot and givng a damm about. She actually enjoys it and reacts accordingly instead of the other ones who dont really seem like they want to be there.

Nudeldifudel

If Suraj wasn;t trying to make a stale as fuck Lost joke every 5 minutes and If Chris stopped acting like the big shot movie director all the time they actually might pick up a thing or two. Rana is doing a way better job, she constantly is telling what is going on and what she thinks is happening.

Mike Drop

I loved this reaction 🙂. Based on the comments I was expecting some major nitpicking, but that's not what I saw here. Sheesh let them take their journey. I happen to love this show, and I look forward to more reactions! Thanks guys!

Edwin Wickey

While I do agree that the comments are nitpicky, you cant say that the Normies arent nitpicky too. There have been instances where the scene was just explained to them and they still nitpick it for not making any sense. They will complain about about a conversation not making sense because they weren't paying attention to the conversation that they were nitpicking. They went into the series with a negative view on the first season and that has kinda been their outlook up to this point. I love the Normies, but they have not been giving the show a full chance since the beginning.

aSackOfReactions

Hey Normies :) Great content. A suggestion from a supporter: maybe try to pay a bit more attention during the AOS viewings. It’s a great show and the only reason why I became a patreon but it’s is a little frustrating when the more opinionated among you loudly comment on things that have been explained (by the show) previously. I’ve seen other fans make this comment on YouTube and here so I hope you take it into consideration. I don’t know how to give constructive feedback to strangers on the internet without sounding like a jerk so I apologize in advance if this seems out of line, that is not my intent.

Jasmine Jackson

damn you guys are nitpicky...this is @ the comments not the normies lmao. i read the comments before watching the video and expected them to rip skye a new one but it was literally nothing more than a few off hand comments before suraj was like "yeah but she didn't know". it's weird that people don't realize that when you're watching a show or a movie or anything for the first time and you make comments during it those are just like...the FIRST things that come to mind. if you could see me watch this show week to week you'd all probably be calling me a nitpicker too lmao. i get that you're all protective of this show, believe me i do this is my favorite show i watch but these guys aren't nitpicking or trashing on anything they're just literally reacting to what's happening as it happens it's kind of the whole point lmao. they don't know what we know about skye so just let them get there on their own!! i hope you guys plan to continue after this season. i love these reactions and i think you'll really love how much the show picks up in season 2 on. fingers crossed we see another double drop some time in the near future!! hint hint!!

Linsey Morris

I would love if u guys could do two episodes a week! that would be amazing! Also I really hope you guys give this show a chance. Its so good and everything pays off but you have to pay attention to the details. Its the reason I became a patreon.

Macy

Regarding the sky situation, I feel like the problem is that the group dont really care that much about this show to pay attention and remember things between episodes, which makes them not invested in the show and it just creates this evil circle. AOS is a show that demands full attention, trust in the writers and patience, but if you are willing to do that, then it gives you back on of the best shows. Normies, please just give it a real shot and be excited for it and pay full attention or you will miss all the details that make this show great.

Nudeldifudel

"Is this a really long play they're doing with this gravity man?" Gotta love that question.

Mark Kean

If Chris wasn't married him and Suraj would ship faster than Amazon prime.

Raymond Strand

TBH I think most of the nitpicking is just about Skye, since they didn’t really like her at the beginning.

Kim Carragher

Honestly I would say that the first couple of episodes set the tone for this reaction series. We all remember quite intense nitpicking (ok, at that point it was sometimes deserved). They enjoy the show way more than at the beginning, but the mindset was already set, which means that they dont pay as much attention as they usually do and they tend to nitpick more than in other reaction series. I mean I enjoy the reaction (hell I became patreon just because of this series, I dont mind waiting for other reactions, but I need my weekly dose of AoS :D ) even though it is sometimes infuriating. Btw we all know they are going to nitpick the hell out of one scene in the next episode, but that will be probably justified (Ward's and Patton Oswald's little chat, no spoilers)

Yeah I'm with the other comments, I don't know why they keep going on about how terrible Skye was for telling Ward bout their location, when it was Coulson who told her to bring him back and the whole team trusts him not just Skye. She didn't 'blab'. it's weird, never seen any reactors react like this, it's always been accepted that Ward is still accepted as part of the team by the team at this point, and therefore for them having him there is no different to having Trip or any of the others there.

Emily S. J. Day

I second all of the comments above regarding Ward/Skye

LJ Luna

You guys blame skye for to much sheesh. She did what she was supposed to do. All of the trusted Ward completely, that was like the whole point of the episode up to here.

WB

As far as the team including Skye trusting ward. Why wouldn't they? As far as they know, everything with him is fine. They have absolutely no reason right now to not trust him.

Nanci Fenstermaker

"Way too deep for this show". Hahahahahahahahahahahaha. Keep watching is all I can say. Nothing in this show random. There is a reason fro everything.

Nanci Fenstermaker

Also asking about Hydra and how they cold infiltrate, in reality after WW2 the U.S. and Britain recruited the german scientists to work for them to counteract the Russians. The Hydra path used that mechanism.

Aes86

And as far as Rhaina. You should pay closer attention to all the tells and details concerning her. Her personality is clear as a bell to me. She is far more than a girl in the flower dress.

Nanci Fenstermaker

Yeah Not sure why everyone is surprised that Skye or the rest of the team trusts Ward. He was with them since the beginning, part of the team. Sky was an ideologue in the first episode with no "spy" training. She of all people would normally trust Ward.

Aes86

That you guys think Skye is not a good spy - what the heck? I mean Coulson told her to call Ward. He told her to tell them where they were. He is still part of their team and none of them know he is Hydra. He is playing them all and that you all think Skye should know is really dumb. No one knows.

Nanci Fenstermaker

Very long play is an understatement. Also you can't really blame Skye. To them, Ward is still a part of the team. How would she know not to trust him?

Gezno

Honestly, bad guy Ward is one of my favorite parts of the series. I just love him so much as an antagonist.

Subaru130

Suraj asking if the *gravity man* is a very very long play they're doing..... that made me lol

Jules Eris

The writers of this show are very smart and very talented. They LOVE the long game, so everything (well, NEARLY everything) means something. They are very good at building characters and giving them really interesting arcs over an entire season. Even the villains, from here on out, will be given long playing story arcs. This first season was created to make you care about these characters and if you keep watching, you will see EVERY ONE of them grow, and mature and become something almost unrecognizable compared to this first season. I promise it's worth it. Season 5 nearly broke me (along with so many of the reactors to this show) because of the buildup and development from seasons 1-4.

You guys need to pay attention and stop hating on Skye. Coulson expected her to call Ward and tell him about the base. That's the reason he has Skye erase Ward's information too. Stop nitpicking so much and actually pay attention to the show.

Mten10th

Probably, they marathon episodes sometimes. They just wait to upload.

micheal king

And I love how the questions will be answered, it's why I love this show

Justin Neason

Next episode, bad spy-Skye will cease to disappoint tho. Can't waiiittt. Her and Ward's acting is really solid!

Justin Neason

peaky blinders?

Lucas hemmingsen

So you have already seen the finale?

Nudeldifudel

If you stick with this show you won't be disappointed with how it answers questions. The writers are definitely not afraid to introduce lasting consequences and callbacks to things multiple seasons back without holding the viewer's hand.
