The whole cinematography for the church+flashback sequence was just fantastic! The OST playing all throughout was also superb. I remember it was at this moment that I really got hooked into the show.

FYI Nahid, Sephiroth did come first (barely). However, I'd be reticent to say anything was "inspired" by something else, because there are so many commonalities and influences in anime. Hell, Cowboy Bebop wasn't revolutionary so much for inventing new ideas as it was for fusing Western and Eastern ideas together in a creative way.

Well, I'm one of those fanboys, but I would never complain. It's a great dub (shocking given FUNimation's reputation at that point in time). And there's few animes created more suited to English voiceover than Cowboy Bebop. It's all subjective, but for as much as you might be a fan of dub Spike, I'm just as much a fan of sub Faye. That's why the dub always seems off to me. But again, agree to disagree.

The episode creeped me the fuck out when I first saw it on Adult Swim. The harsh lighting and what I assume is computer animation as opposed to cel animation really set the eerie mood

I don't think it's that cut and dry regarding the ethnicity of each character. Spike's primary influence was taken from Yusaku Matsuda, in likeness and attitude (<a href="https://imgur.com/PxQPaSY" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://imgur.com/PxQPaSY</a>

Can't wait til they get to Pierrot Le Fou. My favorite episode not focused on the Spike/Vicious drama.

The original and dubbed version have the same soundtrack. The music for this show is definitely it's own character in the show, and I don't think any substitute for the original music would make sense. Yoko Kanno's lyrics for songs in this show are either entirely in English, or, as is the case for some songs, a made up language that she uses occasionally that sounds like a mixture of French, English, Japanese, and gibberish.

The whole church + flashback sequence is SO GOOD. And the English song is called "Rain (Female Vocal Version)", sung by Mai Yamane and composed especially for the show by Yoko Kanno, goddess of anime soundtracks. Cowboy Bebop could easily be a show on HBO, it's that layered and well-crafted. Most episodes are kind of stand alone, with their own themes and characters, so I view it as a sort of anthology series showing the day to day lives of these down-on-their-luck space cowboys. Speaking of which, there's supposed to be a live action tv series adaption in the works, which I'm actually excited about.

This anime is considered one of the best dubs in history only people who are Sub Fanboys complain. Even the original creator knows that the Dub Spike surpasses the sub 100%.

Oh yeah, I don’t know if story structure is considered a spoiler or not, but I don’t want you guys thinking one way and end up being disappointed so................ the series is mostly episodic outside of a few episodes dealing with Spike. Aside from the presence of certain characters, you could pretty much watch most of the episodes out of order and not be lost. It’s one of the reasons why it was a success as it aired on Adult Swim. You could miss one week but come back the next and not be lost. The only ones that kind of necessitates it are the episodes dealing with Spike. This allows them to tell some interesting stories about the world and the other characters without sacrificing time to adhere to the “main” plot. If this is considered a spoiler, you guys can delete it or I can.

The great Yoko Kanno made these songs. She’s famous in the anime world having done a lot of great soundtracks from Cowboy Bebop to Escaflowne and the Ghost in the Shell tv series. Cowboy Bebop really put her on the map in the West because she created so much music. You’ll also find that you’ll be hard pressed to find music that repeats in different episodes. The song that played when Spike was approaching the church isn’t used again. Cowboy Bebop is also the anime with THE gold standard dub. It was the first anime that showed that dubs can be great and surpass the subs. I can normally switch between subs and dubs for most anime; it really doesn’t matter to me. However, there are three anime that the dubs are required: Cowboy Bebop, Black Lagoon, and Baccano. I cannot watch Cowboy Bebop without Steve Blum voicing Spike. It’s against the law.

The characters are not definitely Japanese. The show does a pretty good job through names and faces of showing different types of people. It's not set in Japan or on a Japanese colony so there's no real reason to expect them all to be Japanese. It's in the future, as well so a lot of that might be more meaningless than it is now. If the character's name isn't Japanese (Like Spike Spiegel), they probably aren't. Faye also claims to be from a long line of Gypsies and uses a word from that culture. The creator, Sinichiro Watanabe, seems fond of American culture (at least through film and art) in general.
