Korra is great! However, I always viewed it more casually than ATLA. I was never AS invested. I think the normies are the same in that regard.

So i recenlty watched their ATLA reaction again and man...The hype in korra vs in ATLA are worlds a part. Iẗ́s kind of depressing. I know they've said they like Korra, but they LOVED atla. Rana seem hyped but Nahid and Micky obviously enjoyed ATLA a lot more. I didn't like Korra at first but it has definately grown on me for sure.

That's what happens when budget is limited to 12/13 episodes

Suraj dont know if you would like this kinda stuff but Joe rogans podcast with david goggings and jocko willink(ex navy seals) really helped save me from going to a bad place when my brother got arrested for something he didn't do. And exercise, working out and eating healthy will do fucking wonders for you man.

Toph didn't necessarily value family over criminal justice, she understood that being a 1st chief police with a daughter in prison wouldn't be a good look for someone who's the central part of the new arising government, it's for the greater good.

Also Toph at the time didn't even acknowledge that Su should be punished at all. If you want to say, "keep in the family" then she NEEDS to be punished at home. Not told to gallivant around the world to find herself, freely. So why would Lin think that the meeting (years ago) would go any differently? Lin needed to be the responsible one, while Su was not, as usual. She did crime (or an accessory to crime), multiple occasions, never punished. Lin was told to "let it go" with no satisfaction. Then her mom retires and obviously not sitting Lin down to explain that it was not out of shame. Lin tried to get approval through dedication and work but never received any praise it seemed. Also Lin has been in Republic City all of her life. Toph and Su could have tracked her down and forced her to give them a few minutes within 40 years time. Lin was matched against Su, add Toph and Lin has no chance of winning. But no, they did not, they allowed the wounds to fester, even knowing that she was ALONE in charge of a HUGE police force, probably hung up over Tenzin and him moving on under her supervision. Watching an ex quickly get a new beau, have kids and be constantly around in the council room? Had to be rough. And as Gaang kids they probably understood each other best as legacies. Tenzin was his dad's legacy. And Lin was Toph's firstborn and start of legacy. We thought all this time that she was an only child. Not even Tenzin brought it up to Korra in the city, so he was aware to not even touch the subject with a 99-foot glider. That is how hands-off BOTH Su and Toph were about mending fences after ONE failed meeting. They talked they mended and didn't put effort to bring a stubborn Lin (that is hurting and stressed) into the kumbayah circle.

I feel like the "Lin could have met them" argument stands well. We don't know at what time this powwow was supposed to happen. It could have been during a really hectic preiod in Republic City because Toph retired and left the ENTIRE City (and outlying areas) force to Lin.

So after a single session, everything ends well and all is forgiven? That was fast...and the way how Lin's personality changed felt very jarring to me. i would have preferred a longer healing process, where Lin had to let go of her grudge over time. Felt rushed, tbh.

It's cool to see that Toph and other members of the original team avatar weren't perfect parents, making it more relatable. If you guys remember Toph's parents were strict like Lin and overprotective like an older Suyin and Toph herself was more rebellious like a young Suyin.

I think with how Lin felt guilty for what Toph had to do and how that supposedly affected her career, it made her develop this long-lasting grudge against her sister. Which is made that much worse when after 30 years when the source of her anger and frustration has been doing very well for herself and on top of that, was very happy all this time. It only added insult to injury for her, and then bringing up Tenzin breaking up with her finally made her explode. With that said, after Lin released all that conflict within herself, her acting so happy and very upbeat afterwards reminded me of Zuko after he underwent his metamorphosis. Seeing a happy Lin unnerved me a bit xD Also, Young Su is voiced by Jessie Flower (Toph's VA) and Young Lin is voiced by Grey DeLisle (Azula/Ming Hua's VA). Suraj, much love to ya! Hope you're doing a little better. In the end, it's your personal mental health that matters the most here. So always keep yourself in mind, okay? :)

Well in all fairness Su did say that her and Toph asked Lin to come talk things out and Lin declined to come. Maybe if she would have met with them years ago things would have been much better for her. I'm not saying that Su should just blow off Lin's feelings but if someone is bringing an issue to me when I made an effort to square things away a long time ago and move on then I'm going to be less inclined to coddle someone's feelings too.

I get what Suraj is saying about family coming first, but that doesn't completely apply here because Lin is family too. I get the tough position Toph was in but she definitely could've handled it better. I mean this wasn't some shoplifting Su was doing it was full on robbery. And yeah Toph did some crime too, and if you recall that ended up with the gaang almost getting killed by Combustion Man. Toph acted like she did not give a crap about Lin's feelings, and maybe it was because she thought it wouldn't hurt Lin that much but it obviously did. Lin's not blameless, she didn't reach out to her sister all those years. And yes Su did change, but she acted like she did nothing wrong when they came face to face again. I think one of the reasons Lin was so angry was because she felt like her feelings didn't matter. Like Toph and Su made all the decisions and she was just supposed to follow, which is not how a family is supposed to be. I'm just glad that Su learned that instead of talking about all the good she's done and how great her life is her sister just wanted her to say she was sorry, to show she cared. And I love Toph, but I think how Lin and Su turned out wasn't due to her parenting but rather them moving past how they were raised. I'm sure she loved them but Su's life turned around because she was sent AWAY from her mother and Lin's advice to Opal was telling her not to have the same relationship she did with her own mother. Lin may have forgiven Su but her feelings for Toph are pretty neutral I'd say. Sorry for rambling a bit.

On a side note, my friends and I just got back from SDCC and there was an avatar panel which was great, jack de sena, dante basco and dee bradley baker did a table reading from one of the avatar comics, being in the room was just special, good stuff for sure! Also, one of the head writers of ATLA, Aaron Ehasz, was there and in the very next panel showed the first episode of his new Netflix animated show, The Dragon Prince, which also features the director of Uncharted 3 and other people from ATLA, like Jack De Sena. Avatar with a Lord of the Rings vibe is the best way I can describe it. Personally, I'm invested after seeing it and can't wait for it to come out in September. It would be dope to react to it along with the Normies!
