Yeah they did, but now that they don't exist they feel no suffering and don't have to live under the terror of black. Zamasu is gone and can't spread his suffering elsewhere, and they can go to a new timeline filled with everyone in that universe and prevent them from going down the same fate. Yeah, its something trunks and mai have to live with, but im sure they're more than willing, knowing what else would happen, and he really already lost all of his loved ones. I'm sure they end up finding solace in knowing he's gone and they have each other etc. So in my eyes he took 3/4 of an L.
