You can see throughout the series a lot of hand stuff (sounds lewder than I first thought), to keep challenging himself.

If you seem something that kinda reminds you of star wars, it's probably on purpose. Also, All Might is based on American superheroes like Superman and Captain America. The creator love American culture (like a reverse weeaboo), so he made All Might the same, so he just tries to look as American as possible and named his attacks after American places
