[Premium Access] Bojack Horseman - 5x7 INT. SUB - Group Reaction

INTERIOR SUBMARINE

Diane...why? I understand her frustrations with Bojack but I felt there could have been a better way to confront him rather than put his tape word for word into the script for Philbert! Otherwise this was a very solid unique episode of Bobo the angsty Zebra!

Sound is a little low on this one guys but we will fix it up for next week! We have given the show off to our new editor Sydney!

Micky and I will be retiring from editing Bojack episodes from here on out, but its been real yall!! Can't wait to finish up Season 5 with all of you and then join in on the wait for S6!

We have to keep in mind this show has produced some pretty fucked up scenarios and this is not by far the worst that’s happened. The show in its entirety protrarys different levels of mental instability and disorder and thus at its core is meant to be dark but also get people to think. From a friendship standpoint this scene was pretty fucked up but from a writing standpoint, the creators really made this a turning point for the rest of the season. I can’t explain just how in detail because it would spoil it but from here on it dives deeper into what they were trying to achieve with the Bojack’s psyche and I absolutely love it.

I would note that while, again, this wasn't okay of her, he's not dumb- pretty sure he figured out she knows even if not how- and she has no idea of his current mental state being worse than his norm because he's refused to talk to her about anything. Doesn't make it right but I don't think she could possibly understand how much this was exactly the worst thing for his current issues.

The second half of season 5 is pure genius.

I usually defend Diane, but she's straight up messing with bojack's mental health in this one. He doesn't know she knows about NM. He thinks this is just Philbert the dirtbag. He said early on that he doesn't want to be Philbert, and now he's thinking he is

This season gets so fucked up lol i love it

Yeah this season really made me dislike Diane

Is it? It definitely wasn't okay nor the right way to confront him, and was definitely kinda gross and uncomfortable, but she didn't actually out him, just let him know she knows (in a bad way but that's not ultimately harmful to anything other than Bojack's already fragile mental state). In fact she basically (probably unintentionally) saved him from ever being outed because now no one would ever believe the original tape was anything but a rehearsal for the show he was in, and claims to the contrary could easily be brushed off as just attention-seeking accusations. Not okay, no, but worst thing anyone has ever done in the show? That seems kinda absurd.

Sometimes, when we'e upset, we don't think rationally. He accused her of not wanting to hear him, even though she had offered to listen earlier, he not only "hijacked" her therapist, he lied about stopping his sessions. To make matters worse, he told Diane that "she was just someone to hang out with during breaks"(or something like that) and told her that she was just like him. This was just awful, and she shouldn't have done what she did, but she wasn't in her right mind. Also, it made for fantastic TV. Btw, Flipper never never stops being funny.

This is definitely the worst thing Diane has done. Might be the worst thing anyone did to another person on this show and that's a high fucking bar to clear.
