[Premium Access] Bojack Horseman - 5x10 Head in the Clouds - Group Reaction

This episode was deep and very interesting also. The conversation with Bojack and Diane was my favorite part. The only issues that I have with it are that Diane sounded pretty selfish. What I mean is that although she is his friend, it doesn't give you the right to know every little thing about a person's life. Also, bring up Sarah Lin was dumb of Diane. Personally, Sarah was messing up her life by herself. Yes, I am aware that Bojack did not help in the matter of her drug addiction and with the month-long trip they had. But overall, she did it without force and with well knowing the risk of taking drugs. Bojack does suffer more than Sarah because although she is dead, she is at peace now. Well, Bojack is not, he is still suffering and has to deal with the fact he had some part in her OD. I cannot believe you guys are practically done with Bojack, it was such a fun experience watching it with all of you.

I gotta say, I agree with everything else, but when it comes to Sarah Lynn-- yes, Bojack was the asshole, he was the one that ruined Sarah, he was the one resulted in her death, and it's his own fault that he keeps doing this to himself, however: he has to live for the rest of his life knowing that he was the one that ultimately killed Sarah, that she had bettered herself and he ruined that because he knows he makes it about himself. And when you and your actions are what results in the death of someone you care about, it's hard not to make it all about you, because being all about you is what caused it in the first place. Being all about himself is what killed her, and he knows it. It's why he cringes away when told that, instead of acting genuinely surprised. In the episode "Stupid Piece of Shit" he's able to acknowledge how he is, and that how he is was why she died, and that it was because he "made her love him". He knows this about himself, but he's stuck in a mind-loop, similar to his own mother's dementia combined with her demented past. Heck, even before her dementia, she was still stuck on herself and her past, and the people around her (namely her father) acted like nothing was about her, and her husband only treated her struggles with her past as "episodes" for attention. Nothing was about her, so she strived for that attention, a sad feeling which came from a real place. Bojack's comes from being told that, without attention (fame, status, etc), he is nothing but a waste of time and space. So when he was once something only to be cast aside by time, just like his mother, he let it consume him, and he just needed things to be about him to feel "famous" again. To have attention. Because even if it's bad attention, all eyes are on him. He's being "seen" for what he is, just like he wanted his mom to do. But because his mom didn't see him, didn't help him, he's trapped. He might even end up just like her, replaying these moments, unless he gets the proper help he needs, instead of letting it consume him.

How one episode can combine excellent comedy with heavy drama in such a flawless way is almost beyond belief. This show knows how to blend the two.
