There is actually a Portuguese couple that made that same trip in 2009 (I think) but with bicycles. So when the day comes you are more than welcome to stay at our house (small city south bank of the river from Lisbon but close, we work there) for the amount of time you want and we will make sure you will eat every single delicious dish we haver in Portugal, just be ready to pierce some new holes on your belt.
