(finally) Getting Vaccinated in Tokyo, Japan

Hey everyone, good news! We got our first shots of Moderna! Here is a discussion about the process, enjoy!

Note: This is one of the rare times we are making this video live to the entire world at the moment I finished editing it as it's a fairly time-sensitive subject. I'd like to try to hit the Youtube with this specific topic before everyone else has the chance in Japan, basically, haha. Marketing 101! Thanks for your understanding.

Interesting to hear the process for different parts of the world! Don't forget that second appointment, haha. -E

Here in The Netherlands it's fairly streamlined now, but it was a real mess in the beginning. Old people, vulnerable people and health care workers were prioritised after which people were contacted by letter and asked to sign up (this goes in batches according to date of birth). This is also published in the press, so you shouldn't have to wait for the letter and make your appointment online where you chose between two options. I had my first shot (Pfizer) which went like this: I had to travel 20 minutes to a sport hall which was set up for this, I had to register over there first and provide ID, filled in questionnaire and proof of appointment. I got sent to the next booth where more information was checked, they gave me a registration card to be used for the next jab and got sent to the nurse who injected the vaccine. After that, there was a waiting area where you had to sit down for 15 minutes. All in all, I was in and out within 30 minutes.. not quite the ordeal you guys had :)

Our process here in Calgary (Canada) was a bit more streamlined. We signed up online, choosing our date and time from what was listed as available, filled out the questionnaire online a couple of hours before we went to our appointment and when we arrived, we had to go through 3 people to get to our nurse. The first checked if we had an appointment and gave us a fresh mask and sanitized our hands, the second directed us based on if we were getting the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine, and the third went through our information like name, address, and healthcare number then sent us to the nurse. We also had to say our names which I find a bit funny. The nurse also asked about allergies and which arm we wanted the shot in before she poked us. We have to make another appointment after 28 days to get our second shot. They don't do it when you get your first.
