Since I started shooting film, I’ve honed my style quite a lot. I wanted to share with you and compare photos I took in my first year with a camera vs. this last year, and I’m starting with nature/landscape shots. I took these photos in 2020, which was the year I bought my first film camera - a pentax spotmatic f SLR. You can see how my style started to develop even just in that first year. When I first got the camera, I would go on photo walks and take pictures of random things, not really knowing what I was looking for or how to frame it in a way that spoke to me. Then as the months went by and I became more experimental, I started figuring out things like lighting, negative space, movement, layering, and so on, and how I could use those tools to create interesting frames. I read a few books on photography and experimented with the techniques I read about and ended up with some photos I still really love today.
