With this, I just realized how little I draw Hawks actually. Weird, considering he's my #2 favorite character. I barely use references for Dabi anymore, but with Hawks, it's different. Not only do I search for anime or manga references, but I usually use my own work as reference too. There's another (spicy) Hawks in the making, but for now your get the dramatic birb!
I don't know if you can tell or even remember, but I actually did the "tidy" sketch traditionally on paper and it worked so well! I will definetly implement this in my routine. I guess I really like that I cant undo stuff like I can digitally, so I just have to work with the mistakes I made and concentrate on the general and important stuff rather to undo the same line over and over again. The sketch was so tidy, that I literally only had to scan and trace it!
Coloring was quite enjoyable too - I forgot how easy other characters than Dabi are. Dabi is full of detail and it just takes a while to draw him whereas with Hawks that's not the case.
I don't know how I feel about the lighting in this one, though. I guess in some places it's a bit to harsh, but when I was desaturating it (a nice trick to see the lightlevels!) it was ok.
Tell me what you think about it!
