I have the feeling Rafferty will not enjoy this show very much. All the stuff he listed that annoys him because they are not explained enough like the tech, tactics, scope and such never mattered in Galactic Heroes. Its a Space Opera, not a Millitary Scifi. Its Game of Thrones in Space and the stars are the characters, the politics, the backstabbings and so on. The space battles are just a way to drive the plot forward and like i wrote in a previous comment, the author explicitly based them on 18th century European warfare, with huge armies facing each other in huge line formations and shooting point blank. Its something you just have to roll with.
