Yeah Aang DID die there. He was brought back by Katara.

Zuko just wants to make his father proud. He doesn't have this drive to do good because he was deprived of love. Uncle helps him yearn to be good and we see that a lot this season. At the end of the day Zuko is just a kid wanting to be loved

Also I came to realize that Aang can still love Katara and let her go at the same time. Which doesn't really make sense, but he can love her and learn to realize that in any case he must choose the world over his love. It's almost like a Star Wars Revenge of the Sith thing if you haven't watched Star Wars yet.

This finale is so good! The character development throughout this season set it up perfectly. I can't wait to see you react to season 3!

You can understand why Zuko made the choice he did. Zuko is an addict and just a child that wants to be loved by his father. Aang made some mistakes in the fight. Also, I just love how Azula can’t see past Iroh’s humble and calm demeanor. She doesn’t place any security on him, allowing him to escape and letting Katara and Aang to escape.

I still remember being 7, watching this finale, and feeling so betrayed by Zuko. It is definitely a hard hitting episode
