If I'm not mistaken, one of the reasons that Iroh is silent in these initial episodes is because Mako (the voice actor for Iroh) passed away before work was finished. He of course was recast using Greg Baldwin who had been Mako's voice double for years. I'm not sure if the choice for Iroh to ignore Zuko is purely a creative choice or if it was related to the passing of Mako, but regardless, it works so well here. Very powerful interactions.

People say that in Book 2 Episode 2 Aang already mastered earth bending by digging his own grave. But I say here in Book 3 Episode 2, Aang already mastered firebending by heating up his game. 😏

As a Kataang kid I watched this episode all the time. Nostalgia aside it has some of the funniest moments of season 3 for me and the birth of Wang Fire 😂😂😂

For me the best part is when Aang questions their history book. I was raised in a cult and since then have been very interested in propaganda in all it's forms. A lot of people think it looks like Ba Sing Se but it doesn't. It looks like what they do in the fire nation. The puppet show they showed in season one in the Deserter episode and here and one more place to come. The oppression and the subtle forms of thought control. Yeah, that's what's interesting to me and an in I use with my kids when discussing things like this. Media literacy is very important today and I love that they show this in a cartoon for kids.
