it’s funny you started referring to the Muses as “the chorus” because that’s exactly what they are—a Greek Chorus. Greek theatre traditionally had a small group of actors on stage who would either participate directly in the scene (kinda like during Meg’s song in the garden) or provide asides to the audience to clarify the story, make moral judgements, or simply comment. this group of actors became known as a “chorus”, where the word we use today derives from!
