I love this movie so much, one of my favorites from when I was a kid. The ending is so good because you kind of expect Miranda and Daniel to get back together, but then they don't - I read somewhere that the studio originally wanted them to end up back together, but Sally Field and Robin Williams had both gone through a divorce, and they wanted to show children of divorce that not everyone's parents got back together and that that was okay, and I just really love that, it's bitter-sweet but much more realistic.
