Added 2019-11-02 09:49:30 +0000 UTCHey Patreons - William from Cryb here! I'm super thrilled that you guys are here toe experience the future of Cryb.
Here we'll post updates on what we're planning to build in terms of consumer products and open source software, so let's jump right in.
First of all, we're looking into a new consumer product called the Cryb Registry. The Cryb Registry will be a place for users hosting public Cryb instances to post their instances for anyone to use. Public instances submitted through the registry will be available at https://cryb.app, and we'll sort instances based on multiple factors such as VM queue count, ratings and more.
We're starting to look into this product so we might not have anything to use publicly for a couple months, but it's something we're actively looking into.
We're also looking into two new open source libraries. One, codenamed 'Mesa', will be a wrapper for the WebSocket package available on NPM, with support for heartbeats, authentication, optional pub/sub via Redis for scaling and more. Mesa will hopefully allow anyone to create a super simple scalable WebSocket sever using Node.js.
We're also looking into extracting our CSS into a separate library so anyone can use our super minimalistic and functional design. We're looking to use Mesa and our CSS library in Registry, which is partly why we're extracting these tools to external libraries.
We've also begun to payout our open source developers using our Patreon income! Here's a breakdown of who we're paying out to and how much.
- William was paid $43.81 for 1k+ contributions in 5 repositories (does not include initial commits)
- JeDaYoshi was paid $32.06 for 750+ contributions in 5 repositories
- Inneth earned $1.61 for 190+ contributions in 1 repository, but did not accept their payment
We're thankful for you guys helping to allow anyone to share anything with those closest to them through the next generation of Rabbit sites . Until next month!
- William
