Tumblr...

…has never been my favorite place. There’s a lot of great content and creators over there that I enjoy, but I never liked the way the page was built. Their inbox/messaging/gallery/etc. aren’t as clear or functional as DevArt (in my opinion) but then Tumblr was designed for blogging first and foremost.

The point being, I have a Tumblr page…for now.

You may have heard recently that some CP was found on Tumblr. In an effort to “encourage” Tumblr to “do something about it,” Apple kicked them out of the app store. In their panic Tumblr released an algorithm to solve the problem. No algorithm is perfect of course and a great many pages, posts and users disappeared overnight. Everyone panicked thinking that the purge had begun, but it was just an overzealous attempt to get rid of some genuinely bad material.

The real purge begins Dec. 17th.

Tumblr has updated their rules on adult content and is going to be removing NSFW material from the site. What does this mean? Well, if there are people on Tumblr that you follow for such content, now is the time to go through, download your favorite work and find their other social media pages and websites so you can stay up to date with all their work. Tumblr has made it clear that they will be removing NSFW posts, not pages or users, but better safe than sorry.

As for me…well, this probably won't affect me that much. With a few exceptions, my stuff will probably be fine there. I have the feeling that Tumblr is going to be more like DevArt so far as content is concerned, which isn’t bad…but it’s not good either (funny enough, I just had some material pulled from DevArt).

I only recently started exploring Tumblr and really finding a lot to like about it. Glad I got to look around before the big change happened.

Censorship wins again. Disappointing.

It’s certainly possible. I’m going to join the boycott and not login on the 17th and then check the damage on the 18th. Figures this would happen right as I was growing to appreciate the site.

Well, I'm glad we can see your stuff here, and to a degree elsewhere besides Tumblr. I think Tumblr is going to become a lukewarm, squeaky-clean, "wouldn't-offend-a-Baptist-preacher," safe and boring website after this is over.

Not familiar with Pillowfort. Erolair has some issues so far as the way it’s set up. HF is hentai-foundry. Has a really good gallery layout (though it has a few small issues). Lots of great content.

Stereoscope Comics

I will have to look at Pixiv. There also is Erolair and I might go toss in for an account at Pillowfort.

Ah...I see the argument. Kinda weak.

Stereoscope Comics

I’ve been lurking around over at pixiv. It may be the way to go. No idea why you wouldn’t be welcome at HF. Figured your stuff would do really good there.

Stereoscope Comics

I'm not moving the stuff that's already there, but I'll be putting things onto Pixiv now instead. I'd consider HF, but it's been made pretty clear to me that I'm not welcome there sadly

Silence

People are talking about a grand exodus on Dec 17th. Not sure I’ll participate but I’ll definitely be watching.

Stereoscope Comics

Pretty much. Surprised by the amount of art on Twitter (nsfw and otherwise). May be worth looking into.

It is a shame that people want to censor a whole platform when something like a age block could be implemented and those who enter something nsfw they understand that. But someone somewhere made the discussion and it is a shame in the end.

Seems like most artists are moving to twitter or Newgrounds. In the long term Tumblr is just going to hurt itself with this Sledgehammer vs Walnut approach
