Weekly Update 02.25.2019...

...First things first, I have opened emergency commissions! No one’s sick or hurt (thank goodness) I just had some work fall through over at my day job so I need to make ends meet. I’m going to keep commissions open until Saturday when I’ll make my official selections, so if you’re interested, you’ve got a few days to think about it.

The next page of Black Label should be done soon! Detailed sketch is done so I can start the final lines and tones. The page after that is going to be a bit more complex, but I think I’ve got it figured. Sooo… maybe two pages this week? I hope so.

Got a surprise yesterday when some friends stopped by and my wife told me to grab my dice. Ended up playing a round of DnD and it was fun…for most of us. We’ve been playing this original campaign for a year now and one of our players finally got dead. Thing was...most of us didn’t care (we were kind of happy about it in fact). It was a Dragonborne who loved to interject, get in everyone’s business, give the DM ideas, and act “clever” in an effort to “make the game interesting”.

Allow me to share just one of many stories involving said Dragonborne…

We approach a warehouse that has some bad people inside. Really bad people.

It’s decided that it would be best if the Rogue and the Bard (me) sneak in to case the joint.  The Rogue and the Bard enter, quietly opening and closing the front door behind them. (Side note: we’d been playing for a few months and this was the first chance our Rogue had to do anything stealthy; she was very excited about this).

Roll for stealth.

Rogue and Bard pass their stealth rolls, no problem.

Now…the Dragonborne is not there. She’s out front hiding with the other party members. She is not a part of this scene, but decides that she wants to make a stealth roll too.

Fails stealth roll.

Bad guys hear what sounds like a Dragonborne sneezing. Turn around and see a rogue and bard. Proceed to kick the asses of the Rogue and Bard. We barely escape with our lives and our simple side mission transformed into a two month ordeal.

“I was just trying to make things interesting.”

HOW IS SNEAKING INTO A BUILDING FULL OF NECROMANCERS NOT INTERESTING?!

Wow, I really hated this character.

So…in yesterday’s game the Dragonborne wanted to sneak into the bad part of town and free the animals that were being forced to pit fight. A noble thing to do, yes, but there’s a problem…there are six of us who would be going up against a couple dozen people of various races and classes that fight and kill for fun and profit (we knew there was at least one Monk among them). Also, since the Dragonborne already caused a rucus there earlier that day, we knew they would probably be on high alert and ready for us. In other words, this is a really bad idea. So no one wanted to do it.

In the end she only convinced one other player to go along with her.

Now our Dragonborne is multi-class Ranger/Druid. For those of you not in the know, multi class characters are kinda useless until they get to a higher level. We’re at level 6. So our Dragonborne is is an ranger that can’t track or survive in the wilderness and can barely do magic.

So the Dragonborne is dead now, and the Paladin only escaped because of sheer dumb luck (and misty step).

It was epic, tragic, hilarious, and incredibly satisfying.

Am I a terrible person?

Naaaaaaaah.

Okay, story time is over! Time to get some work done! Hope you guys have a great week!
