WIPWed Good Omens Fanfic... take 2

In honor of this week's announcement that Good Omen's 2 is officially  greenlit, I was put back in mind of a sequel fanfic I was working on. I thought it would be a great bit of work in progress to share this week! So please enjoy this opening to a post-amazon series story as we all get collectively hyped for Good Omens 2!

edit: Psyche. In the process of posting it I read through the fic I mentioned above and have decided it deserves to get posted on Ao3, so here's the link to that. Instead, here's a frewrite of another fic that I came up with about the same time. It's definitely a WIP, but still pretty cute. I hope you enjoy it!

Aziraphale Gets a Car:

Premise: Aziraphale and Crowley move out to the South Downs. Aziraphale gets a car.

He presents a cute little white four door sedan. "So? What do you think?"

Crowley (confused/concerned/flustered/more confused): You got a Car? Really? Why did you even want a car? You don't even know how to drive. Aziraphale: I know how to drive, I just don't like to.

Crowley: The question resurfaces. Why did you get a car you don't like to drive.

Aziraphale: Oh! Well, we live in the country now. It's not like the city whose traffic inspires such a blinding rage I fear to become a sinner. Crowley: Ah. Rush hour. Aziraphale: Better on the bus. You can read. Crowley: True

Aziraphale: But out here it's nice. So I got a car.

Crowley pretends he approves. Lots of nodding. Aziraphale feels appreciated and justified and is like "I am going to town. Would you like a ride?"

Crowley "No... no I'm going to go over to Newt and Anathema's for a while. You... you ... check your mirrors."

Aziraphale "Alright then." and he motors off at meager speed.

And then Crowley goes to Anathema's and is like "I don't like that he has it. He's going to crash it and die." Anathema "He's afraid to go over 35mph" Crowley "Yes but you can roll one of those little plastic things at 35mph. It's fragile and light and has gears that change themselves. I don't trust it." Anathema "Calm down, you put him in more danger yourself, driving like a maniac. There's no one on the road more careful and attentive than Aziraphale." Crowley; "You're joking right? Someone holds a doughnut in the air he'll get distracted and put it in a ditch"

Anathema (pats his arm) "I tell you what, I'll ride with him and tell you how he does. He won't know it's a test, we'll just drive and I'll give you a grown-up's perspective. How's that?"

Crowley is going 110% Parent of a 16 year old: "Yeah, okay... but don't distract him."

Anathema "i won't I won't"

then later when Anathema engineers a reason to ride with Azi somewhere: Anathema "So how do you like your new car. It's very cute." Aziraphale "Oh thank you. It is a cheeky little thing isn't it? The dealer assured me it was the most well rated one on his lot. It's got lots of belts in, and a bell that warns you when you're crossing the line, and if you DO happen to hit something there's thirty five little hidden pillows that explode from the walls to catch you."

Aziraphale "And if you tap it wrong it gets upset and starts screaming at you. Although I turned that one off. I mean thank you, but no." Anathema "I think that one is for when people try and steal it." Aziraphale "Steal it? This? I mean a carriage is a carriage but this isn't Crowley's bently or a limousine or one of those awful landed boats the Americans prefer. If someone has it in their head to steal something like this they obviously need it and I wish them well."

And so Anathema and Aziraphale voyage forth in whatever the british equivalent of a Ford Focus is, tottering around the country roads obeying the speed limit to the number with Azi feeling tiny pangs of pride as he signals the turns and allowed families of ducks to cross in front of him.

When she gets back she gives Azi an 8/10 for his driving and a 2/10 for how much fun it was.
