I had to google quite a few things to get through it but maybe Iโm just stupid One of most interesting ideas in the book for me was that Magic is a standard PHD level field of study and work, itโs crazy hard and complex. At first you think, if humans have the ability to do Magic why doesnโt everyone do it? But I guess we could ask ourselves, if we have the ability to be heart surgeons or astronauts, why isnโt everybody doing it? By the end it does kind of make you feel like just being human is a little magical. But also made me feel like a stupid dumb idiot because I didnโt go to grad school.

2025-09-20 23:47:00 +0000 UTCiโve only read the first like 15pgs of katabasis but i went to her tour in ny!! the book is def reading as more YA and not her best work so far, but listening to her speak about her research was incredible, they capped her at 1 hour but i wouldโve been sat if they let her speak for like 5 more i donโt remember too much of what she actually said anymore, but ik she said her agents made her take special geometry lessons so she could properly construct the landscape of hell in the book. the professor is based on the teacher from whiplash and the magick or wtv is inspired by the prestige movie . i donโt remember why she brought it up but she also mentioned liking the amadeus movie sheโs obviously very intelligent and talented but i donโt think it is translating as well in katabasis.. still gonna read it all anyway tho๐
