Thanks for this reaction. One of my favorite albums. You should do a ELP on Genesis's album Trespass. I know for sure this album does not include Steve Hackett and Phil Collins. Just a suggestion. I think this album sets the stage to be more progressive. Enjoy your reactions and analysis. Keep up the good work.

For a while now, I've been wanting Doug to listen through Wind and Wuthering from Blood on The Rooftops to Afterglow as one piece.

Given how he liked Horizons, I think Doug would enjoy exploring Steve Hackett's acoustic/classical recordings. Momentum and Bay of Kings are mostly original compositions. Metamorpheus and A Midsummer Night's Dream are suites for guitar and orchestra. Sketches of Satie are arrangements of Satie featuring his brother John Hackett, a classical flautist. Tribute features Steve performing pieces from the classical repertoire. No doubt there are performers I don't know about, but I'm unaware of any guitarist from the "rock" side who composes and plays in the classical style better than Steve.

The story about the Mellotron is absolutely true. Steve is currently touring celebrating the 50th anniversary of Foxtrot. Cannot wait to see him again!

Loved this episode taking a deep look at an album that is so incredibly dear to me. I think this is the first time I've heard the mellotron flutes so clearly in 'Time Table'. I believe I remember an interview with Tony Banks about his mellotron, stating that it was purchased from King Crimson. If so, interesting to postulate that the 'tron we're hearing here could be the same one as was used by Crimson on their first album, although possibly with a different tape rack. Oh.... "Satin Peter" = "Saint Peter" , I think. Just PG's way of playing with the construction of words.

So glad that Doug got to experience not just one of the strongest Genesis albums but also 'Horizons'...Steve Hackett was unfortunately often overshadowed by the other members. I really enjoy Steve's earlier solo efforts, particularly Spectral Mornings and Defector. Also, his song "Blood on the Rooftops, written with Phil, is not only one of my favorite Genesis songs but Rutherford and Banks consider it Hackett's best work with the band.
