NEW COURSE FOR FALL 2022 - EXPLORING CHROMATICISM

I'm pleased to announce our next online class. In Exploring Chromaticism, we will plumb the depths into the sounds that expand upon diatonicism. We'll study secondary dominants, modal mixture, modal alterations, altered pre-dominants, pitch class sets, and more!

We'll meet on Mondays during October and November at 6:00pm eastern time. Each session is 1-hour, and we'll meet via zoom. The class is limited to 20 registrants, and the cost is $60 per month.

Class Dates are:
- October 3,10, 17, 24 (no class on Halloween)
- November 7, 14, 21, 28

* If you took our Introduction to Musicianship course this summer, the source material will largely be the same.

* Participants in this class will also have full 'Council of Dougs' top-tier access to all of our videos, live chats, and activities.

* Please let me know if you have questions or concerns regarding this class.

Thanks Yori! Glad to have you. Sorry for the time inconvenience.

I've signed up, but due to the time difference I won't be able to join live. I'll watch the recordings!

Yori

Hey Doug just signed up, super excited!

I'll likely do the beginners course once a year. We covered rudiments and basics, including: major keys, minor keys, major and minor scales, intervals, triads, seventh chords, and ear training/context for those themes. If you have a good grasp of this, then the upcoming class should be fine to jump into.

R. Douglas Helvering

I was hoping for another "beginners" course. Would it be advisable to take that course before doing this one?

The Clendinning/Marvin starts its discussion of Chromaticism around chapter 19. I'll likely provide the Kosar book directly...and other sources will be provided.

R. Douglas Helvering

What are the books and chapters? I couldn't find Kosar online and the table of contents of Clendinning/Marvin looks very diatonic.
