Doug on Demand - Session 15

Hi y'all! We had a lovely listening session on Sunday's Doug on Demand. Sadly, though, we were unable to get a screen capture of the rolling comments this time. As usual, the songs are worthy and eclectic...and we had much fun together!

Sally Oldfield - Songs of the Quendi

Shinyribs - Bitch Better Have My Money / Long Train Runnin'

James Blunt (via Bad Lip Reading) - You're Beautiful (Beard With Glue)

Jon & Vangelis - The Friends of Mr. Cairo

Happy the Man - Stumpy Meets the Firecracker in Stencil Forest

Focus - Hocus Pocus (full version)

Art of Noise - Close (to the Edit)

Peter Frampton - Baby I Love Your Way

Nemophila - G. O. D.

2Cellos- Thunderstruck (AC/DC cover)

Hot Tuna - Water Song

Goblin - Suspiria (Main Theme)

I’m so happy I got to share that ShinyRibs track with you all!! With one spot on the wheel, what luck! - I didn’t even have to drop out of the call and Zoom back in!😜 With Mr. Ribs’ eccentricities, fashion sense and song choices, it’s easy to miss - but that’s a pretty big band he’s leading (2 horns, 3 backup singers, a pianist, bassist, drummer, and a pedal steel in the back!) and their arrangement was Tight!! I bet not many have attempted Rihanna on the ukulele and lived to tell the tale.😅 I hope you all enjoyed it!!

Margaret Barnes

I just listened to it. Indeed a great piece.

Love Happy The Man. I like their second album "Crafty Hands" even more than their first (from which this song comes). The original band only put out three albums. They had the unfortunate luck of starting to release albums just as prog rock was in commercial decline.

Also, there’s a short YouTube clip of Jon talking (in concert) about the first time he met Vangelis. It’s pretty funny! Check it out

Hey Doug! Thanks for the reply. I wish I could have seen the text thread cuz it seemed kinda quiet and I saw ya check the time a few times. No worries though. As I said in my description, it’s quirky. Kind of like a song noir…😁😁😁

That was a special find! Thanks so much Ford.

R. Douglas Helvering

I liked it! Thanks David.

I loved the Hamburger Concerto...it's in the latest Fan Favorites.

I don't know- my ear hears one hyper song on every album- Round Goes The Gossip, Harem Scarem, Rock 'N Rio. But you're right- they're definitely a step (or four) apart from the rest of their work.

Tom (the soggy one)

This is always such a fantastic event. I feel sorry for those who cannot participate. Worth every penny and so many great people. 🤘

The Nanny named Fran

It’s a pity that again Hocus Pocus is played while for Focus it was an out of their style song and they made so much more beautiful music. Try Focus II for instance.

Same here! Argh, I wish I could have been there, but I was dealing with stomach issues. Glad you liked the Happy The Man selection of mine! That debut album is definitely worth a listen. Cheers!

Crap! Ya played my song and I missed it! Oh well…😁😁 These Sunday sessions are tough during football season…😁😁😁
