Hello Doug and everybody. A new subscriber here. How could I add a band/track for reviewing? It's a very little known gem of symphonic doom metal from late 1990s Austria. Highly exquisite, highly neoclassical, unique.

Shadow Suite

For those of you anxious to pursue the Fripp/Byrne "Under Heavy Manners" recordings, the CD version is available as of Autumn 2024. It's not a direction that the Fripp Soundscapes pursued further. The first outing of the Fripp soundscape was in collaboration with Brian Eno on the "No Pussyfooting" album; its cover art is set within a mirrored room, perhaps hoping to suggest the form of the music held with the vinyl grooves.

Really good to hear a Robert Wyatt composition being discussed. His work is a kernel to much of the Canterbury music circle. If you want some more of his vocal delivery have a listen to his chart-intruding version of The Monkees' "I'm A Believer".

It was a great session all the way through (including the last track which I had to catch up with on the replay). My highlight was getting the Split Enz track played, but, that aside, witnessing Doug hear Shirley Bassey for the first time was an unexpected treat. For anyone in the UK of a certain age (!) Shirley Bassey has/had superstar diva status, so I was surprised that this was a first listen to her voice.

First, I love the replay format that includes the chat. And the music in the video was up to full volume, even though I could barely hear it during the actual Zoom meeting. Go figure? But I got hear that Split Enz song- you were right, Doug! It was great!

Tom (the soggy one)
