POLL: Pick the next Extended Play Lounge
Added 2024-12-03 15:00:13 +0000 UTCFor our final EPL of the year, I'm asking you to pick among some of the best rock and prog albums of 2024. All of these musicians have become personal favorites of mine, and I'm up for a full album listen from any of these great options. Which one would you like for me to review first?

Next poll with Nightwish, but this time it has to be Opeth. ;)

2024-12-08 19:37:21 +0000 UTCBBT and Yes fans, time to flip those votes to David Gilmour 🤘home stretch! Do it for rock!! 😁

2024-12-08 17:45:37 +0000 UTCYet again Nightwish are languishing and don't deserve to be!....All you Prog-Heads out there, check them out and give them a vote! ;-)

2024-12-08 14:10:20 +0000 UTCI'd seriously check Nightwish out if youre into Rock/Metal....they've been around for over 25 years and their music is awesome! :-)

2024-12-08 14:07:29 +0000 UTCDidn’t vote for BBT only because Doug has heard it. I have heard the other choices except Opeth, so I will give it my vote. I would like to have seen Neal Morse’s latest album in the poll. I quite enjoyed it.

2024-12-06 00:25:02 +0000 UTCWould have been BBT in any other situation. But cannot be anything other than David Gilmour. I confess to being staggered at just how good this album is. And a great group of musicians.

2024-12-04 17:41:47 +0000 UTCHere too. Best album of 2024.

2024-12-04 13:38:54 +0000 UTCCorrect me if I am wrong. I think Doug reacted to at least some of his new album on YT and then listened to more in a council hangout? But I do remember Doug saying he listened to all of it.

2024-12-04 12:49:06 +0000 UTCSteve Hackett’s new album misses out. Strong competition here though..

2024-12-04 10:50:27 +0000 UTCCheck out Doug’s back catalogue. He’s done loads, but never an EPL (Imaginarum deserves one the most).

2024-12-04 10:45:51 +0000 UTCIMO, this is one of the best prog/metal albums in the last 10-15 years. The quality of musicianship on there is next level. Every instrument is played at very high standard, including the vocals. clean or not. Not many musicians could pull this off as a cohesive band.
Jean-Michel LaFontaine
2024-12-04 05:29:01 +0000 UTCJust curious, when does this poll end?

2024-12-04 00:17:12 +0000 UTCHave sampled these and decided to refrain from casting a vote. Sorry to any fans thereof, just not my musical neighbourhood.

2024-12-03 23:32:06 +0000 UTCI feel we are just going to have to agree to disagree here, as I would say this is a great modern metal album for those looking for something beyond just grumbling and fast-playing.

2024-12-03 19:22:16 +0000 UTCI decided between Jon Anderson and Big Big Train. It would be very interesting to hear Doug's take on the JA plus The Band Geeks vs classic Yes, and, of course, Doug is very well prepared on Big Big Train given his work on the book he and the band have prepared. In the end I went for JA and The Band Geeks. It's a great selection of albums, and it's cheering to think these all came out this year.

2024-12-03 19:10:33 +0000 UTCI wouldn't say that. As someone who lives for prog rock and who listened to the album for Mr. Anderson's contributions, it's just grumbling and fast-playing to me. One prog rock fan's opinion though..

2024-12-03 19:09:11 +0000 UTCMe too!

2024-12-03 18:45:31 +0000 UTCI absolutely second that. In general, I think this could be one of the metal albums that could work very well for prog rock fans.

2024-12-03 18:18:12 +0000 UTCNightwish is one of the most popular metal bands that is out there. But in this vote, they are just up against very strong competition and the new Opeth album is just awesome. :)
Berniyh
2024-12-03 18:15:20 +0000 UTCWell, I can't speak for anyone else, but I've never heard of Nightwish.

2024-12-03 18:05:26 +0000 UTCCome on guys how is Nightwish only on 8%!!!
Adam Jones
2024-12-03 15:59:28 +0000 UTCYeah you knew I was going to vote for Luck and Strange right?
KellieE69
2024-12-03 15:40:04 +0000 UTCI considered both of these!
R. Douglas Helvering
2024-12-03 15:21:37 +0000 UTCAre there any Yes fans out there? The Jon Anderson album True is as close to (true) Yes as it possible can! It's great no less 😉
Karl Egil Stubsjøen
2024-12-03 15:20:46 +0000 UTCI need to plug the new Opeth album to Jethro Tull fans as it features Ian Anderson on the flute, spoken word and had a role in developing the concept album.

2024-12-03 15:18:49 +0000 UTCHardest choice I've had to make all year! Hoping for a quadruple episode. :)

2024-12-03 15:17:00 +0000 UTCYeah, I want to write in for Judas Priest. :)

2024-12-03 15:15:16 +0000 UTCGilmour's ability to keep you suspended in his guitar solos has simply ripened with age. Every damn note is so carefully selected. I really, really hope Luck and Strange wins!

2024-12-03 15:15:05 +0000 UTCIs there an option for write in votes? 😎 Charcoal Grace - Caligula’s Horse😎
