I'm afraid that neither of our submissions are going to make it past the post, but like you I'm glad it made it to the poll! Altough Neil Young is at nr 11 if I'm right, just on the edge, but still I don't think it will get enough votes to pull up.

Tim van der Leeuw

Thanks Tim. It doesn't look like it's going to make it through to Doug's video but I am happy it's made it to the poll at least 🙂

Ruth James

That's what I thought but wasn't sure anymore. I voted for it both on the F-F Discord and here!

Tim van der Leeuw

Good to see some Beat Club videos on the list, a show with excellent sound (not lip sync). Old Grey Whistle Test would be another show to explore for future videos.

Guitar Channel

I’m a Phil Collins Genesis fan. Let the flaming begin 😂🤣😂🤣

KellieE69

I remember the show, but no specific performance came to mind.

Mark L

I’m a huge Genesis fan!!! That was my submission.

Pam Norris

I voted for both

Pam Norris

You can vote for both. I did.

Pam Norris

Annie Lennox singing "Why"🙂

Ruth James

Unfortunately, the Kansas clips are not available on YouTube. Believe me, that's what I would have picked if they were available. Many of the available clips that I have seen from that show are distorted or parts of songs are cut out.

Ross Pollack

Isn't the idea of the exercise to vote for your preference, not to try to guess the winner? It skews the outcome as a measure of what voters would actually like to have Doug appraise.

George Davis-Stewart

Yep, that is true and I love ELP, but I'd like to see only one of them make the final cut so other live performances can be shared.

Ron Swirson

A chance to see very early Genesis live...no doubt! Comfortably Numb is also one of my favorites

Salvador Montoro Goethe

I mean they are both top 5 right now as I type. We could get both...

Matthew Hackbert

What! No bands that performed on Don Kirshner's "Rock Concert"!?! Possibly the best live rock concert show of that time. Kirshner was the first to put Kansas on the map with that show.

Bob Lessard

I HOPE Knife Edge edges out Take a Pebble, not because I like one song over another but because the video to Take a Pebble is ruined by annoying 70's video effects and you can't see Keith playing piano. Knife Edge video is clean with no video effects.

Ron Swirson

I’m sorry, Kellie - His Royal Badness will make it to a FF video one fine day!!

A bit of background to the Jimi Hendrix performance : - this was a live broadcast - Cream had announced they were splitting up earlier the same day - Hey Joe was the closing number for the show - the next BBC program was their flagship 6pm News that always had to start on time - the Cream tribute meant the show ran over leading to: outrage (at the BBC) that the News should be delayed by a bunch of hippies & Jimi was banned from the BBC At the time live programs on the BBC were taped to allow a single repeat showing and then the tape reused; this recording survived at the end of such a tape long enough for a BBC librarian to recognise the contents and archive it separately.

rogerb

Please consider throwing some more love toward Elvis Costello - that “F U” moment on LIVE TV (with Lorne Michaels just off camera, flipping him off the whole time!) was such an iconic moment! It took guts, that early in his career. It got him banned from SNL for the next 12 years, too.😁 So Rock & Roll!! 🤘🤘

Margaret Barnes

Prince didn’t even make the cut 😭😭😭

KellieE69

Thanks. I said "BBC4" because, well, I didn't realise BBC4 didn't yet exist then and it says BBC4 on the clip... One lives, one learns!

Tim van der Leeuw

talkin' 'bout my g-g-generation

Robert Thornton

Light my fire is a great one

DRAGON FAN TIM

Vote for Knife Edge since Doug has not heard it! It also outperformed Take a Pebble in the discord voting. Take a Pebble was already in a BTS episode...

Matthew Hackbert

Same for me! :-) Now let's see if we get thru to the next stage! What was your submission again?

Tim van der Leeuw

remember that you get multiple selections...up to five!

R. Douglas Helvering

Small doses does it for me 😉

George Davis-Stewart

I know several non fans of ” Genesis” 🤷‍♀️.

The Nanny named Fran

Jeezz. Too many of my favourites on this list. I’ve preferred to vote for Sir Paul, but I realise The Musical Box has a much bigger change to win this. So Genesis it is 👍🏻😉

Karl Stubsjoen

You mean not everyone is a Genesis fan?

Dennis Rees

Yay, at last my selection has reached this stage🙂

Ruth James

Easy Money is the easy choice for me! This is probably the best footage we’ll ever get of KC before their first breakup. Not to mention, this is one of their only live performances of Easy Money that DIDN’T include the quite raunchy & rapey second verse lyrics… “Well, I argued with the judge But the bastard wouldn't budge 'Cause they caught me licking fudge And they never told me once you were a minor” Yet another example of why 70’s prog music will never be replicated in this day & age, sorry not sorry😂

joey burgio

I’d be curious to know how many genesis fans there are in relation to the total fan base. Let me clarify please. This was NOT a criticism of Genesis or their fan base. I too am a fan. It was simply an observation that - out of the population that voted - 1 in 8 total votes was for Genesis.

The Nanny named Fran

Regarding the Neil Young clip -- there was no such thing as BBC4 in 1971. BBC4 has existed since around 2002 and often has repeats of archival programming. I'm pretty sure the Neil Young clip originated on BBC2.
