2021-08-21 17:42:24 +0000 UTCInitially, I supported the Afghanistan war and wanted to get Bin Laden. I am glad we got him. However, that itself took almost 10 years! We wasted so much money and lives on a war that was just not winnable. I don’t understand why we couldn’t have left sooner? Hell, we could have left after Bin Laden was taken out, that was the whole point of the war it seems like.. achieving peace and stability in a lot of middle eastern countries like Afghanistan is simply a pipe dream. So much money and lives wasted. Money and lives that are government could have invested in our people via infrastructure spending, better college funding and jobs programs.. I feel bad for the veterans of the the Vietnam war and how poorly they were treated when they came back from the war. I also feel just as bad for the Afghanistan veterans who were used as political pawns and exploited for political gains.

I wasnt for staying in Afganistan so long i think we should have done our mission and left. but at the same time since being there we got a lot of people putting trust and hope in us that were abandoned by us and thier own military. the girls being captured and inslaved makes me sick to my stomick and makes me think of Isis. we really needed a better plan of getting our people and our allys out.
