The Iranian Hostage Crisis Explained

I am always fascinated by Iran, and I remember well when I first learned about the Iran hostage crisis. As a kid, this frankly horrified me that people could do this. Later in life, I read Stephen Kinzer and it opened my eyes as to why the Iranians hated the American government so much. Once you realize the full story, it makes complete sense. However, it is truly sad that these Americans had to endure this for 444 days.

Also, this is another collab with Tariq from Hikma History. Be sure to check out his video as well once it is up.

Thank you for your continued support!

Yeah I agree that we didn't learn much regarding foreign entanglements. It's that "American exceptionalism" mentality that can cloud judgements.

I was aware of this event. However, I wasn’t all that familiar with all the details of what caused it. You did a great job of breaking it down. I can’t imagine being held hostage for a day let alone 444 days! I am glad the hostages were freed. I feel like we didn’t learn much from the ordeal foreign policy wise and we just adopted a “why shouldn’t we” approach to middle eastern affairs vs. “why should we”

Thank you! Honestly I learned a lot making it!

Mr. Beat

Another great video! Obviously I knew this happened, but I probably haven’t researched it as much as I should have up to this point, so this was really helpful. Thanks!
