Three years after, I'm still on the fence with this one. But leaning more to Shrien's innocence. The most important factor is that I have no problem in believing that South African police has done all that the witnesses are telling; also no problem in believing South African authorities wanted to pin the crime on the tourist, not on the good people of South Africa (I'm not being racist, I'm saying this as the SA authorities probably have said it). About the drive through a poor neighbourood: many, many years ago (53) I've spent two months in northern Mozambique (South Africa's neighbour) with my father, who worked there for several years. Before I came back to Lisbon he took me to Lourenço Marques (Maputo's name when Mozambique was a Portuguese colony) and, among other things, he took me on a "tour" of the "caniço", an immense (compared to the rest of the city) area where the poor lived and the houses were mostly made of canes. My father wanted me to know a bit of Mozambique's reality, so I don't find it so strange that they wanted to know all of Cape Town. The only thing that makes me doubt a little is they taking the "tour" at night... P. S. Mozambique is paradise! Truly!

The Crying Game is absolutely a great film!. I haven't seen (yet) The Last King of Scotland, but agree with you: FW is a tremendous actor! I recommend The Way of the Samurai, if you haven't seen it yet. Also agree on the opinion that IDI Amin would make an excellent/awful chapter here in That Chapter.

Hello Theo! I hadn't commented on this one yet but I saw your comment and I felt like you could have taken the words right from my mouth (or out of my fingers, as I'm typing!) 😅 I'd previously never disagreed with a single one of Mike's final conclusion talks either.. but I have to admit I was indeed surprised to hear Mike say he didn't think Dewani had anything to do with it! Of course, everyone is entitled to their own view and we always differ here and there.. but I really didn't see that one coming! I guess there is a first time for everything! It seems quite a few share your view if the comments are anything to go by.. but this case seems to split people down the middle. It's like 50-50.. half the people who are convinced he is guilty and got away with murder and then the other half of the people who are convinced he is innocent and a victim himself. Ultimately, I was just sorry for that poor girl Anni.. who lost her life on what should have been the best time of her life. Such a sad story for her and her family. Her Mother and Father seemed to take it terribly bad. Anyways, on a lighter note, Happy New Year to all!

I remember being utterly confused when this happened, but you ironed it out brilliantly. Maximum props for your storytelling yet again. On an unrelated topic, I recently ran across a YT channel that really looks like a That Chapter clone attempt. It’s called Twisted Minds, they’re hovering around 100k subscribers. SUCKS. Extremely annoying forced subtitles, and the guy presenting the stories could possibly get by telling stories to small children, but I’ve never found true crime less interesting.
