The Hobbit. Bookcover redesign. Cover options.

Holaaaa. Siento mucho que esto esté tardando tanto, pero la verdad es que no es fácil. Entre salud, dudas, documentación y justificar cada paso que doy...¡diseñar una portada de libro sin nadie que te diga lo que quiere, es complicado! Pero divertido.

¡Así que aquí estoy!

La composición de estos tres thumbnails es simple. Se ve el arco tras las fiestas en el bosque de los elfos de madera, en Mirkwood. En concreto, escenas específicas del enfrentamiento contra las arañas gigantes.

Siempre he pensado que ha sido un punto de no retorno para Bilbo, al menos en las películas. Matar a una cría de araña, como si fuese la amenaza más horrenda de todas. La primera sombra que deja el anillo sobre su mente, al menos la primera más que evidente.

El problema es...¿arañas o no arañas? Por que no hay nada como temer lo que no ves y desde luego, la intriga de ver a los enanos ahí colgando como jamones a mi me da más miedo e impone más como portada...pero el primer esbozo es más visual y dinámico. Ambas venderían bien, pero probablemente la gente iría más a la que sale Bilbo (mientras no tengan aracnofobia, claro...)

¡Decidme qué pensais! Mucho me temo que puede que haga dos portadas en vez de una.

Holaaaa. I'm sorry this is taking so long, but the truth is it's not easy task. Between health, doubts, documentation and justifying every step I take...designing a book cover with no one to tell you what they want, it's complicated! But it's fun.

So here I am!

The composition of these three thumbnails is simple. You see the arch after the festivities in the Wood Elf forest in Mirkwood. Specifically, specific scenes from the showdown against the giant spiders.

I've always thought it was a point of no return for Bilbo, at least in the movies. To kill a spider hatchling as if it were the most horrendous threat of all. The first shadow the ring leaves on his mind, at least the first more than obvious one.

The problem is...spiders or no spiders? Because there's nothing like fearing what you don't see and of course, the intrigue of seeing the dwarves hanging there like hams is scarier to me and more imposing as a cover...but the first sketch is more visual and dynamic. Both would sell well, but people would probably go for the Bilbo one (as long as they don't have arachnophobia, of course...).

Let me know what you think! I'm afraid I might do two covers instead of one.
