The Truth about #ChangeTheDate

I have a smaller sample size of indigenous friends, but I can tell you from my opinion poll of one person that support runs pretty close to 100% for changing the date. Curious to see how much support this video cost you, no matter how valid the point is. (And yeah, Triple J has been utter shit since at least 2007)

Great video! it's scary how if you have a differing opinion from those of the far left (I consider myself left and mostly a labor voter ) you get all these insane labels thrown at you for not mouthing the heard mentality. Great job on calling out the big corporations for latching onto these movements whilst it's their dollars which are the dirtiest interms of carbon foot prints or just plain cruelty to people .

Isn't the thing you're complaining about exactly what you're doing; using the "change the date" issue to drive clicks? Buzzfeed et al may be virtue signalling, but all you're doing is reinforcing the idea that it's cool not to give a shit. How would that look if you applied it to the other issues you talk about?

The media is pretty goddamn unbearable. I'm in favour of changing it, mostly because i don't think there's really much need for any kind of historical significance to be tied to a date where people just wear a bunch of aussie flags and get pissed, and there's a lot of people who are genuinely not a fan of the current date, so i think the "Move it" argument is much stronger than the "Leave it where it is" one. Also changing it would upset Tony Abbott and Mark Latham, and that's always good for a laugh.
