BOTTOM S2 E4 - Parade

Comments

The police already know who the real perpetrator is during an identity parade. The purpose of it is to use the positive identification by the witness as evidence while building a case against the accused.

Tomotei was a brand of shampoo. Page 3 - it was a page in a daily newspaper which ran for decades and featured a topless model.

The war vet said there isn't a Stroud Hill in the Falklands, however, he was wrong. There IS a Stroud Hill in the Falklands.

Darryl Glynn

That’s fair. I have had certain scenes that I think go on for a bit too long, sometimes loses the humor for me.

The soldier with the false leg played Kryten in Red Dwarf. Another fun series.

Mac

For me this is probably my least favourite episode of Bottom. I think the scene in the bar where Richie is arguing with the Falklands veteran goes on for too long.

CJR

She started in press gang with Dexter Fletcher. Right? Do I have the right person?

Brucey Mitchell (Cheeky)

😂😂 wow, you must’ve been bored!

Killermcknight

The bird behind the bar with the smashing blouse on is Julia Sawalha who went on to play Saffie in Absolutely Fabulous with Jennifer Saunders (Ade Edmondson wife) yous would love French and Saunders .

Chris

I was so bored last night i watched this lol.

Brucey Mitchell (Cheeky)

That's an interesting insight, cheers Andy! It makes sense when I think about it but I didn't realise we were increasing presence there right into the 90s

Ooohhh love these fun facts! Thanks for sharing. Yeah I’m not really excited to see the comments after that comment, lol. I take it by saying misfortune that you were not one who adored her?

Chief Inspector Grobbelaar was named after former professional footballer Bruce Grobbelaar from Zimbabwe, who kept goal for Liverpool Football Club during the eighties and nineties. He's generally regarded as one of the greatest goalkeepers of his era. You sure opened up a can of explosive worms with Thatcher! I'm of the age where I had the misfortune of growing up during her time in power. I think it's safe to describe her as the Donald Trump of the eighties, at least in terms of her popularity. Those that liked her policies absolutely adored her, while we normal people despised the very air she breathed.

I'm catching up, so just watched 3 and now this... Yeah that's how episodes work Andy mate. But my dad got taped to a wall in the Falklands. The previous episode reminded me of it, and then here you've got a vet from the Falklands war. I remember them but didn't remember the order. The Falklands war was of course 1982, but for years after the UK increased its military presence there. It was the mid 90s my dad spent a total of 12 months there. He lost a bet so got taped to a wall. It was a very on edge time from what he told me. Post war they had various groups/squads, and very cheap beer. You'd have the Green Berets kicking the shit out of a Paratrooper if they were on their own, type thing. I only get the stories, but I remember my granddad bought my dad a Sharp camcorder to take with him. All the videos were of penguins. My dad came back like a gym rat with a fucked liver and drove really slowly. It took a while for him to change that.

Andy

😂😂 I’m waiting for all the Margaret Thatcher comments.

Killermcknight

Yes, its back! Loved it, you saucy bits of alright. I see what Stephens doing with the timestamp stuff as even i've seen comments on YT where people are like "I told you in the last video" without realised multiple recordings take place on the same day. There's a lot of Military lingo and Falklands references that go over my head too (The conflict pre-dates me) but similar to you I can laugh along with the vibe of it. "heard of Margaret Thatcher" - You have my deepest sympathies
