HOA

Just a friendly reminder from the neighborhood HOA. 🫡

HOA

So they’re not paid, they’re volunteers of the community you live in. The owners of the home. So for example, our neighborhood/development has an HOA. The rules for this development were put into place by the developers. They have an annual meeting there the residents vote to keep, add, change, or remove rules. Each development that has an HOA could have completely different rules from one another. So the one on one side of us has an HOA (though we don’t know what their rules are) and the one on the other side doesn’t have one at all. For homes that have an HOA, they have certain things that aren’t maintained by the city, they’re maintained by the HOA. For example, the entrance to our development has a nice big neighborhood sign, that’s part of the HOA. There’s an open grassy area with picnic tables, and that area is owned by the HOA, they will host neighborhood picnics there. There are plants throughout the development that were put in by the HOA. So part of our HOA fees are paying for landscapers to take care of the grounds (not each person’s, we do that separately, just the common grounds and plants, etc).

So, what is a Homeowners Association? A paid group of random people or do they own the homes you are renting? E.G Here in UK you have private owned homes (people live in or rent out). You have local authority (local government) owned homes that people rent, but repairs are covered by rent cost. And Housing Associations (who own built or build their own homes) that people rent, and repairs covered by rent costs. Do you guys own homes and just pay a HOA for ....? What?

More just a reminder. They occasionally wander around looking at things and then if someone has something that needs “fixed” according to them, they’ll send you a letter and give you a date to do it by, power-washing your driveway, trimming bushes, making sure you can’t see your garbage cans and they’re hidden behind something on the side of your house, etc.

Forgot about HOA, quick google just reminded me. Are you given timeframes in which tasks need to be done by or is it more on inspection and warning basis
