2025-10-01 05:01:50 +0000 UTCSo Rudy is another way of saying Rudeboy which is Jamaican slang for a young working-class man who gets into a bit of trouble. That's why they're telling him to think of his future, straighten out, and stop making problems in town. If he keeps on the way he is, he'll wind up in jail.

2025-09-25 18:07:42 +0000 UTCYouβll hear another song by The Specials in Father Ted very soon, called Ghost Town. I thought they were okay, just not really my kind of music but they were quite popular back in the day.

2025-09-25 16:17:01 +0000 UTCR.I.P. Terry Hall, the lead singer who died a couple of years ago. The Specials are one of best examples of British 'Ska revival' music also known as 2-tone, which was basically a cross between Jamaican Ska, Reggae and British punk rock. It was an interesting musical invention born out of Jamaican immigration to the UK during the 50's, when the kids of first generation immigrants mixed with white English working class guys who were influenced by the Jamaican and reggae sound. Due to this there was many UK bands in the late 70's to early 80's that adopted many elements of reggae and ska music, mainly The Specials, Madness and to a lesser extent The Police. I don't think there was much of a crossover of 2-tone into US audiences, so you might not get along with that type of music. Definitely worth checking out The Specials 'Ghost Town' and 'Much Too Young' though.
