Chapter 1
Based on what I read tonight, a new kind of evil might have been recently birthed in Gotham.
It was still too early to come to conclusions yet, but this was something so alarming that I had to tell Batman this. It was in my private office that I read about this for the first time. Furthermore, it sounded much too strange, at first, but lately there had been a peculiar accident on the west side of the city. Some kind of flying creature attacked some innocent young woman. Without questioning this, not even once, Batman was pointed out as the guilty culprit, which was a big deal since The Dark Knight had been in the good graces of the citizens of Gotham for the last few years.
The incident took place a little over a week ago—eight days to be more precise. Cindy Bullock, age 19, daughter of Harvey Bullock, a member of the GCPD, was coming home from hockey practice late in the evening, and she was all by herself when this monstrous thing, as she described it, flew down from the red sky of Gotham and supposedly attempted to pick her up from the ground, hoping to snag her. She said that this thing wanted to eat her. It tried.
I had a pretty decent imagination, so when I first read that report during my research, I could imagine the whole thing quite easily in my head, and sent shivers down my spine. I could only try to imagine how she felt. It sounded like a nightmare, honestly. That was some scary stuff. It tried pulling her from the street, but she said that she fought hard, and she was able to get away from its grasp.
“Help! Please, someone!” She screamed in terror, desperate for someone to come help her, but no one came. No one was around at the time of the event. There was no help for her and no witness to confirm her story.
The winged creature was still able to hurt her plenty and left a long claw mark all across her back, as well as scratching her arm. Two violent injuries. She said the monster nearly took a bite out of her before vanishing into the night.
Cindy ran as fast as she could, but she didn’t make it that far before she eventually collapsed, she was so hurt and terrorized. Thankfully for her, she collapsed not too far from a pizzeria. The people inside saw her collapsing. They saw everything. Her palm aggressively struck the large window of the small restaurant with a violent and resounding thud. A breathtaking amount of blood slid down her arm and arrived where her hand was. Cindy left a bloody hand-mark on the window, which horrified the people inside the pizzeria even more. Her hand slowly slid down the window before she, unfortunately, crashed to the ground.
The bloody hand-mark created an even bloodier line, which followed her.
After all she went through, it was a miracle that she was still alive. Most people didn’t believe her story, beginning with her father, who firmly believed that she was misremembering a bit that, and it was, indeed, Batman who went after her, even though, it made no sense, considering what Batman stood for and what he did, also because had no claws and a human mouth as opposed to a monster’s one, although there was, indeed, something pretty animalistic about him, I would admit… I mean, Batman had a human mouth.
That’s it.
It made even less sense, since I knew him a lot more than most.
However, that was a completely different subject.
The reason why I was doing this research about this victim was because the GCPD recommended that I help her when she was ready to be seen, much to Bullock’s disappointment, since he knew how involved I was with Batman. It was kind of messed up, but it was my job, and I was more than happy to help this young woman. Commissioner James Gordon was the one who recommended me for this, and I was honored that it was the case. I shut the lid of my laptop, exhausted from all the work I had done that night.
It was nearly midnight, and I was still at my office. What kind of late hours were these, huh?
Quite frankly, the only part of my life that didn’t feel like work nowadays was him. We had been seeing each other for a while and things were heating up, even though, they were quite fiery the first few days we met.
I was meeting with him tonight, and I couldn’t wait to do so. I had been thinking about it all day long… It wasn’t exactly a date, but it was something far better than that. Tonight, I was coming home—tonight, I’d be spending it with him.
Knowing this, the feeling it gave me was incomparable with anything else I had felt with anyone else before. He had this kind of looming and powerful effect on me. It was surreal. Whenever I thought about it, even for a brief moment, I became aroused. My body would overheat. I would become intensely wet, so wet, it dripped down my thighs. I was never able to control it. He had this stronghold on me and I wish I knew how to stop it, but there was no use. He had me considerably horny all the time.
I couldn’t wait to see him again tonight.
I was shaking, I was so excited. Knowing that he was waiting for me to come to Wayne Manor was both enthralling and agonizing. I hoped I could make it there sooner, but I, unfortunately, was not able to leave work earlier than I did now. The thing that mattered most was that I was coming. I was on my way to Wayne Manor, and I was going to spend the night with him without anything ruining this moment for us. My legs were shaking even more once I nervously walked down the stairs of the building in which my office was located.
Downstairs, I found out that Bruce had sent a certain someone for me—Alfred Pennyworth stood next to a black vehicle, warmly smiling at me and opening the door for me.
“Miss Meridian.”
