Chapter 16: Von Drax Valley

Von Drax Valley—a place she never thought she would ever set foot in, was exactly where she was.

All the correct preparations had been made. Cynthia didn’t come all this way without doing the right things. She advised Trix, her boss, of what she was going to do. To her surprise, she accepted and thought this was a half-decent idea, not exactly something she expected to hear from her.

Of course, I didn’t tell her I got all this intel from Richard, of all people! She would have killed me, especially if she told me specifically not to make any kind of deal with him, but you know what? It paid off. It worked off and now I’m here… Von Drax Valley…

Von Drax Valley was a small town like she had never seen before.

The town itself seemed like it came from a different era. Everything around her—the houses, the shops, the architecture—everything appeared to come right out of the early 1900s. There was a whiff of  Victorian-era in the air, but slightly more modern than that, which was completely different from what she was used to in the big city. Here, everything was older, but everything had a purpose and a soul. The houses and the different buildings around her were all made of wood and bricks. They were beautifully painted, with a lot of cherry-red and creamy-white tones.

This… This was not what I expected, at all…

This place was a lot more beautiful and peaceful than anything else she could have predicted, this place, to be. It was not only more gorgeous than what this town in the middle of nowhere should be, but it was also a lot cozier. Everyone who passed in the streets waved at each other and even smiled at each other. It was a day and night comparison with what she knew and what she was familiar with. The urban environment she was used to was nothing like this.

Heck, a bunch of those local citizens waved at her and smiled at her—she was a total stranger. She didn’t come from here. They had never seen her in their entire life and yet, they waved at her and welcomed her…

Um… The more I think about it, my big tits might be the reason why they are all waving at me… But yet, again, they seem so genuine, and random people don’t wave and smile at me like that back home… This is so different… Even the women are saying hi to me, and they don’t seem to be into my tits… Um… So strange… Perplexed, Cynthia continued her search for the address she had been given by Richard.

Soon, she’d be there…

Von Drax Valley…

2005, on Fourth Avenue…

This was the address in question.

She was supposed to have the right address, but the thing was that the place where she arrived was an old tavern. Why had she been brought to a tavern, of all places? This didn’t make any sense to her. Why a tavern? Why? She could never stop wondering why she had been told by Richard to come here. She observed the red and creamy colours of this ancient establishment before eventually stepping inside. If she felt transported somewhere back in town as soon as she entered this small town, this feeling became even more present when she came inside the tavern.

The place was packed.

There were a few men with cowboy hats either sitting at wooden tables or walking around the place. Other men who were well-dressed in gentleman’s clothes were all over the place, as well. There were also a couple of women pampered throughout the place. Cynthia wasn’t too sure how many of them were supposed to be here to enjoy the comforts and services of the tavern, and how many of them were there as workers—prostitutes. She didn’t know, at all, but regarding the staff of the tavern, there was only one waitress who had to serve all these patrons. A lot of work for her, for sure. Cynthia couldn’t begin to imagine what it was like for her, here. She didn’t sit at a table, instead, she sat right at the bar between two tall men. The one to her right was a human man, and to her left there was a saurius man. There wasn’t a lot of room between these two guys, but she still had a spot to sit at the bar. Now, she only had to wait for the bartender to see her, so she could order herself something to drink after traveling so much and for so long.

The last thing she expected was for someone to recognize her and interrupt her while she was trying to order herself a beverage.

“Widdowfield…” was the first and only word that was spoken to her. The voice came from behind her. She could feel a hand reaching for shoulders or about to reach for her shoulder, at least. She turned around, intrigued to discover who here of all places knew her. She had no idea who that person could be…

To her surprise, it was Protea.

“Protea. What are you doing here? Aren’t you supposed to be?”

“Incarcerated?” she interrupted her.

“Well, yes…”

“That would be thanks to you.”

“Guilty,” Cynthia didn’t care. She did her job and that was the end of that. The only thing was that she was pretty surprised to see her here of all places and free.

“I was sent out here—once again—thanks to you.”

“Yeah, sure, but why are you not behind bars or something?”

“I’m out on bail. It’s kind of messed up but I am free more or less, as long as I do not leave the valley.”

“Why are you here of all places, though?” she asked her.

“Because I was sent back to my hometown. This is where I used to live before,” she explained to her.

“Oh! Alright. And why the fuck are you bothering me in this bar?”

“Because I’m the one who's supposed to receive you. Richard told me you were coming,” Protea announced to her.
