Girl Genius Comic for Monday, January 25, 2021 and the Great Cetacean Wallpaper

I've finally got a new wallpaper put together for you! It's the Great Cetacean double-page spread, and it's nice and dark, so I think it will make a lovely desktop. I wanted to have it for New Year's Day, but things were hectic and it didn't happen. Feh.

There are five versions of the wallpaper, in the following sizes: 2560x1600, 1920x1080, 1600x1200, 1024x1024, 600x800. Or, you can download a zipped archive of all five.

Thank you, everyone!

Very likely the Castle won't let anything really bad happen to Professoressa. The riffraff need to believe the Heterodynes are invincible, and Agatha would not be happy with the Castle. What fun!

3. Professoressa looks enough like Agatha someone who has seen her but doesn't know her could be mislead, too, so long as she's at a distance and in bad lighting. Her most distinctive difference is her hair color, which is only really apparent in a context that makes it apparent - good lighting, or in an environment with a known color that's similar enough to either of their hair colors to provide enough context to determine her true hair color. Her features also have a similarity in a vaguely familial way such that people have suggested that Professoressa might be related, and dim lighting and distance could both help to capitalize on those similarities. Someone who has seen Agatha up close in person but not well enough to get used to her voice and word patterns might wonder if this is really her, but the crowd and castle seem to think it is, so they're probably just wrong, right? 4. I think about half of my lady professors were rather fit. None of them taught sports. There was a pretty amazing divide there, however, as a number of the other half were clearly not. 5. I think we've seen that the castle likes to keep its capabilities close to the chest beyond just enough show to get the fear and/or respect it wants. I wouldn't be too quick to declare exactly how much Plumm has going on that the castle isn't aware of. I'd guess it's probably much less than he thinks and a bit less than you think.

Yes, but I think they're still a long way from going along with Agatha marrying the both of them. That's OK, though, it just means the Foglios have more story to tell.

Some Ed

Or, rather, think it's more limited than it is. It can be helpful to have your adversaries underestimate you. If you're not looking for a promotion, it can be helpful for your friends to underestimate you, too. (I mean, if all your friends do, and your enemies are spying on your friends to learn about you, your enemies will also underestimate you.)

This was a fun analysis to read, thank you. :D The boys have actually been getting on quite well lately; I think they're having fun sniping at each other. Watching them gang up on Martellus is a thing of beauty.

Oh yes,.. And I will take the background thank you,... I will need a few more since you are replacing my Desktop Earth screen. Thanks in advance (J/k)

well. Apparently: 1. the castle is talking directly to her - so the Headdress is the medium. 2. the castle has not been whispering,... even when it warns her to be quiet in spots, so it must be "mental radio" or telepathy, or even magic, (I didn't make this world I only read about it.) 3. not everyone has seen Agatha and believe the professa is she. 4. She is very fit for a teacher who doesn't teach a sport. 5. The Chris Cringle knockoff just cleared it into my top ten favorite characters right after Payne and his wife. Guy has much more going on than anyone (Including the castle) has privy to - and he can lie like a rug. 6. I love how the Castle has Dopples everywhere that have full range of motion.

Absolutely. Agatha. Her windup assistants. Err, *most* of her windup assistants. Usually "Axel Higgs". Usually Zeetha if Axel's around, and sometimes if she's fighting. Krosp when he's eating he was given. Gil and Tarvek, at least of late, have mostly only been angry at each other, and most of the time one or both of them have been in a Stage 2 Madness Place state, which only sometimes resembles being angry. Usually Bangladesh Dupree, but this doesn't really help anyone. Castle Heterodyne is almost never angry. Like Captain Dupree, this isn't helpful. Plumm is generally pretty jolly, rather than angry. Again, not helpful. The sparkhounds, if and only if they've been able to obey an order of the holder of the shiny and have gotten rewarded for it recently. Still not helpful. Muses are rarely angry. Once more, not helpful. (Muses are rare, however, which is very helpful.) Last, but not least, classic revenants (that is, the shamblers) are basically never angry. This helps no one.

Some Ed

Is there ANYTHING in Agatha's world that is not angry?

I am not the biggest fan of the interstitial stories (I enjoy the main storyline too much) but I _love_ this one. Thank you!

Jeremy

Thanks for the wallpaper - it's now on my personal computer and my work one. Looks great.

Andrew Mitchell

Oh Castle! you are enjoying this soooo much! :)

Paxxie

That second panel... Makes me suspect that the Castle is playing a long game, not wanting others to know its limits.

MetBoy

Thanks for the new wallpaper! Girl Genius probably has the best and most extensive collection of wallpaper images of any webcomic.
